Rep. Amash: Evidence the White House Is Using Against Syria ‘Is Being Embellished’

Amash: ‘Some Things Are Being Embellished’ by White House (National Review)

Representative Justin Amash, a libertarian-leaning Republican who opposes U.S. intervention in Syria, said this morning that members of Congress haven’t found the White House’s evidence about the chemical-weapons attack in Syria convincing: ”The evidence is not as strong as the public statements the administration has been making.”

“I’ve actually urged the administration to be more forward about what the situation is,” Amash told CBS’s Bob Schieffer. “There are some things that are being embellished in the public statements, and I would urge the administration to be more forward with the public about this.”

“The briefings haven’t given me comfort, the briefings have actually made me more skeptical about the situation,” Amash said.
