Tucker Hammers Don Calloway: It Doesn’t Make People Bigots If They Don’t Want Public Housing in Their Neighborhood
EXCERPT:
CARLSON: "You can call it whatever you want, but the bottom line is — Hold on. Here’s what bugs me. I get it. I get the dream. It has been a dream for 50 years and I am not opposed to that dream. I am for integration, unlike most people on the left. I am very uncomfortable with historically black universities because they're not diverse. No, I'm serious. I'm for integration. I'm not against that. I am saying that the people who lived there have a right to have a different view and it doesn’t make them bigots."
CALLOWAY: "Nobody is saying — "
CARLSON: "Of course they are. The Fair Housing people — 'You are a bigot. You just don't like people different from you.'"
CALLOWAY: "Tucker, you and I always have good discussions. I have not said they are bigots. I'm saying there is substantial value to potentially looking at mixed income communities around the country. And it's unfortunate that HUD has not helped further that mission."
