Biography
Alex Villarreal brings her own unique brand of energy to the FOX 7 News Edge. Originally from San Antonio, Alex graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichata Falls, earning a degree in Mass Communication and Broadcast Journalism.
Before joining the FOX 7 team, Alex started her journalism career in Waco at KCEN as a reporter. She then headed home to San Antonio, where she worked as a freelance traffic/news reporter and producer of "Eyewitness Wants To Know" on KENS 5 news. From there, she went to work as a reporter at KBTX in Bryan/College Station.
Alex has been recognized with numerous awards for her reporting on health issues and has received honorable mentions from professional organizations including Texas Associated Press Broadcasters 2nd place award for her "Sports Story."
When she's not hard a work in the station, Alex enjoys helping out in the communications department at her hometown church. You might also catch her at her favorite Austin restaurant, Hopdoddy Burger Bar.
