Biography

Amanda Brandeis joins NewsChannel 5 as a field reporter.

Amanda comes to the Grand Valley after graduating from San Diego State University. She graduated Cum Laude, with a major in Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in Political Science.

Although she has always known television news was her calling, her experiences throughout college solidified her desire to become a reporter. Amanda was one of 30 college journalists selected for a prestigious fellowship with the Poynter Institute. She spent two weeks in St. Petersburg, FL training with some of the nation's top-notch and seasoned journalists. Amanda also interned for two of San Diego's top news stations, ABC 10News and NBC San Diego. Her internships required her to arrive at 3:00 am with the morning crews.

During her last semester at SDSU, Amanda joined San Diego City College's news station, Newscene. There she was able to anchor, report, and produce news stories that were relevant to the school and the local community.

Prior to recently moving to Colorado, Amanda lived in California for the past nine years. Amanda, however, is no stranger to cold weather. During her early childhood she lived in Michigan for several years. Now that she is presently in Colorado, she hopes to spend her free time improving her snowboarding skills as soon as winter arrives. Amanda loves hiking and is excited to experience all that the Western Slope has to offer. More than anything, it is Amanda's passion to meet interesting people and relate their stories and life experiences to help, inform, and enlighten others.
