Biography
Alice Barr joined the KCTV5 News Team in April 2012 -- a week later than planned because of a last-minute surgery for appendicitis. Once she landed in Kansas City (down one internal organ), Alice quickly grew to love all the city has to offer. As a general assignment reporter, she's excited to learn the stories hidden all over the Kansas City metro.
Alice last worked as a reporter and anchor at KGAN in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she enjoyed covering the Iowa caucuses, seeing grassroots politics up close, and interviewing presidential candidates. Before that Alice reported and anchored at WIFR in Rockford, Ill., getting her feet wet and learning to report, anchor, produce, shoot, and edit all at once. Her first on-air experience came through an internship at KULR-8 in Billings, Mont.
Alice grew up in Bethesda, Md., just outside Washington, D.C., and graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. During college she interned at National Geographic, CNN, and Nightline, where she also came back and worked after graduation.
Alice also has experience working on documentaries, including co-producing an in-depth report about the transformation of Chicago's infamous housing project Cabrini-Green.
In her off time, Alice loves to travel, read, and she's trying to teach herself to like running. For Alice, it's all about the stories and she's excited to tell yours.
