Hanif Bali (born 10 April 1987) is an Iranian-Swedish politician and a member of the Moderate Party. He has been member of the Swedish Riksdag for Stockholm County since 2010. He lives in Solna, Sweden and has municipal positions in Solna Municipality.
Bali came to Sweden from Iran without parents at the age of 3, and lived most of his childhood in different foster families. He studied at Uppsala University after finishing gymnasium. Prior to becoming a full-time politician, Bali worked as a programmer and web developer. He worked for the Moderate Party as a webmaster from 2006 to 2007.
Prior to the 2010 general election he stood as number 9 on the ticket for the Swedish Riksdag in Stockholm County and was thus the youngest and highest placed newcomer among the Moderate Party in that region. In the Swedish Riksdag, Bali is ordinary member of the Labour Market Committee and a deputy in the Education Committee. He is responsible for integration issues of the Moderate Party in the Labour Market Committee.
Bali has primarily made his name known by profiling himself on issues regarding refugees as well as IT related matters. He also runs a business as an IT consultant.
He is known for being outspoken on his Twitter account and has gotten himself into multiple controversies because of it. He has been compared to both US President Donald Trump and political pundit Milo Yiannopolous for his attacks against political opponents and direct way of speaking.
