Bill Wells was born and raised in the East County and he’s married to Dr. Bettie Wells, who spent her entire life in El Cajon. Bill also has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and an RN. His professional life has been as a mental health professional, working mostly with the severely mentally ill, in both clinical and administrative roles. Currently he is the CEO of Broadwell Health Inc.. He has also worked in health care positions such as: Vice President of Business Development, Director of Psychiatric Intake Services and Director of Outpatient Services. Bill has also worked as an adjunct college professor.

Politically, Bill started by representing the hospital he worked for, in Sacramento and at their local City Council meetings. This was the formal beginning of his political life, but truthfully he had been politically engaged since High School, where he was editor of hisschool paper and wrote weekly political editorials. Bill has served as the President of the Grossmont Union High School District’s Proposition H Bond Oversight Committee and the Chairman of the El Cajon Planning Commission. He was elected in 2008 and 2012 as an El Cajon City Councilmember and was selected by his peers to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem. In October of 2013 the Mayor of El Cajon resigned and Bill was appointed to serve out the rest of that term as Mayor. In 2013 he was awarded the San Diego County Republican Party Elected Official of the Year. He has also been appointed to the Board of Directors for the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). In 2014 he was elected as Mayor of El Cajon with 83% of the vote.
