Biography

Dr. Finny George Kuruvilla, M.D., Ph.D. is a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at Eventide Asset Management, LLC. He has been its Chief Investment Officer since April 2008. Dr. Kuruvilla has also served as a Principal at Clarus Ventures, LLC since 2008. Dr. Kuruvilla is a Board Observer of Lycera, Catabasis, Tetralogic, and Virdante Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He is also a Board Observer and a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Nanostring. Dr. Kuruvilla had served as a Director of NanoString Technologies, Inc. since November 2011 and was its Member of Scientific Advisory Board since 2009. He was a Research Fellow at the Broad Institute of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Kuruvilla led a collaborative effort with Affymetrix in medical and population genetics from 2006 to 2008 at Harvard University. He was also a Clinical Fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, Dr. Kuruvilla’s research focused on the elucidation of the mechanism of action of rapamycin. He has cared for adult and pediatric patients suffering from a variety of hematologic, oncologic, and autoimmune disorders at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his residency at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital from 2003 to 2006 and his fellowship in transfusion medicine at Harvard Medical School from 2006 to 2007. Dr. Kuruvilla received a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Harvard University, an M.D. from Harvard Medical School, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.
