Evangeline Gomez is a practicing attorney, legal and political commentator who is recognized as one of the top “40 attorneys under the age of 40,” by the New Jersey Law Journal. Ms. Gomez has been quoted by The New York Times, Bloomberg News, Hispanic Business, TheStreet.com, Forbes.com and her articles have appeared in the Huffington Post. She was a 2009 Democratic Nominee for County Legislator (or “Freeholder”) in Northern New Jersey, the first Latina under age 40 to win that honor. As the first Latina to run for county-wide office, she paved the way for future candidates. In 2010, she was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve on the Rutgers University Board of Trustees, where she currently serves as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee.

Ms. Gomez appears as a legal analyst on Fox News, Fox Business, HLN and MSNBC, where she has provided legal commentary on high–profile criminal trials such as Jodi Arias, Amanda Knox, George Zimmerman, Oscar Pistorius trials. Ms. Gomez also provides analysis on critical federal cases and Supreme Court decisions involving rights for same-sex couples, voting rights and higher education. Most recently, she provided legal analysis on the Michael Brown and Eric Gardner grand jury decisions.

Evangeline was recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the Passaic County Community College Foundation and honored for her professional success, extraordinary commitment to surrounding communities and for serving as a positive role model for students. Ms. Gomez, a Girl Scout alumna, also served as the recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award for the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. The award is given to outstanding women who have had remarkable accomplishments in their lives and who serve as excellent role models for girls and future leaders. In addition to the Rutgers University Board, Ms. Gomez has served as the Chair of the Paterson Education Fund and a member of the Board of Trustees of Hyacinth AIDS Foundation. Ms. Gomez is passionate about supporting causes related to education and women’s and children’s health.

Ms. Gomez graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science and earned her law degree from Rutgers School of Law. While in law school, she was Articles Editor of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter, a legal journal. Ms. Gomez’s work has included numerous appeals, including published decisions, which she achieved very early in her career. She is happily married to Robert, a partner at a law firm, and they are the parents of one child.
