Sheriff Vincent DeMarco is a lifelong resident of Suffolk County. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from St. John’s University in 1991. He began his distinguished career as a Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff in 1994. While serving as a Deputy Sheriff, he was recognized for his commitment to law enforcement multiple times, including being honored for making the most arrests in a year. Sheriff DeMarco was sworn into office becoming the first uniformed member of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to be elected Sheriff. Sheriff DeMarco is married and the father of two children. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office employs 841 correction officers, 247 deputy sheriffs and 130 civilian personnel. Suffolk County has a population of over 1.5 million and is comprised of 911 square miles.
