Biography

Adam Housley joined Fox News Channel (FNC) in 2001 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. Recently, Housley covered the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, reported in both English and Spanish during the Chilean Miners rescue and, earlier in 2010, reported live from Haiti after the deadly earthquake.

During his tenure, Housley was the first American reporter to provide live streaming video reports from Venezuela during the protests against President Hugo Chavez. He was also the first reporter allowed on a U.S. warship during a defense missile launch. In 2006, Housley reported from Nicaragua and El Salvador on the war against drugs and secured an exclusive interview with Sandinista leader, Daniel Ortega.

Additionally, Housley provided extensive on-site coverage in and around Thailand during the wake of the Southeast Asia tsunami tragedy. He also reported internationally during Operation Iraqi Freedom from Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, and the Persian Gulf and has spent time covering the war on terror from Pakistan, Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip.

In December 2005, Housley was one of a few reporters selected to witness the execution of Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams at San Quentin. He was also FNC’s lead reporter for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 2003 campaign and has covered six hurricanes, including Katrina and Rita.

Prior to joining FNC, Housley served as a reporter at KTXL-TV (FOX) in Sacramento, Calif., from 1999-2001, where he received an array of awards including the 2001 Regional Associated Press Reporting Award and a Regional Emmy Award. In addition, he was the lead reporter for KFTY-TV, an independent station in Santa Rosa, Calif., from 1998-2000. Before that, Housley was a live reporter for KCPM-TV (NBC) in Chico, Calif., from 1997-98, where he won a Department of Forestry Award for capturing a wanted 20,000 acre arsonist.

Housley began his career as a reporter for KVON-KVYN radio in Napa, Calif., where he developed and produced newscasts. Prior to his career in television, Housley played professional baseball and was drafted by the Montreal Expos and played for both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Detroit Tigers organizations. He was a junior Olympic baseball All American in 1988.

A graduate of Pepperdine University, he received Bachelor degrees in both political science and telecommunications. Housley also is a two time media fellow at Stanford University.
