Biography

Duff McDonald is a New York-based journalist. Previously a contributing editor at New York, Fortune, & The New York Observer, he has also written for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Business Week, Conde Nast Portfolio, GQ, WIRED, Time, Newsweek, and others.

His new book, The Golden Passport: Harvard Business School, the Limits of Capitalism, and the Moral Failure of the MBA Elite will be published by HarperCollins in April 2017. McDonald is also the author of The Firm: The Story of McKinsey & Its Secret Influence on American Business (Simon & Schuster, 2013) and Last Man Standing, his biography of Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase (Simon & Schuster, 2009).

In 2004, he was the recipient of two Canadian National Magazine Awards—Best Business Story (gold) and Best Investigative Reporting (silver)—for Conrad’s Fall in National Post Business.

He is also the co-author, with Owen Burke, of The CEO, a satire.

He splits his time between Rockaway Beach, Queens and the Catskills. He has one daughter, Marguerite, two dogs, and a cat.
