Biography

Michael Falcone was named ABC News deputy political director in August 2010. Based in Washington, he works closely with ABC News political director Amy Walter to oversee the editorial content of all political news across ABC News broadcasts and contributes analysis and political coverage to ABCNews.com. Falcone serves as the author of ABC's critically acclaimed political blog and morning political tipsheet, The Note.

He has traveled the country for ABC News covering the 2010 midterm elections and the 2012 Republican presidential primary and general election.

Falcone joined ABC News from The Huffington Post, where he served as the political editor in charge of selecting and editing content for the politics section of the news site. In addition he helped manage special projects and election coverage. Prior to the Huffington Post, he worked at Politico, where he served as a national political writer with a special focus on congressional and gubernatorial races.

Previously Falcone was a political blogger and reporter in The New York Times' Washington Bureau, where he covered the 2008 presidential campaign and filed regular dispatches for the Caucus blog. He also interned in the San Francisco bureau of The New York Times and wrote about a range of topics from politics to technology.

A native of Moraga, Calif., Falcone graduated with a degree in political science and English from UCLA and earned a masters degree in public policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He lives in Washington, D.C.
