Biography
MJ is a living example of the American Dream. He has earned two Masters Degrees; a MBA from Rice University, and a MS in Engineering from the University of Illinois. MJ is a registered Professional Engineer with the State of Texas, he is also President of MAK Development, Inc., a real estate development company based in Houston.
During his three terms as a City Council Member MJ worked tirelessly for the citizens of Houston’s District “F” and the entire city to fulfill his campaign pledge of striving for “Improving the Quality of Life One Houstonian at a Time!”.
Besides discharging all his duties as the City Council Member, MJ acquired an impressive record of community service. Over the years he has been a member and also served on the board of directors of several organizations such as the Asia Society, Holocaust Museum, Houston West Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Advisory Board of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the Transportation Infrastructure & Services Steering committee, and the International Council Advisory Group with the National League of Cities.
MJ has been married for 39 years to Dr. Attiya Khan, a renowned Cardiologist in Houston and the first female cardiology fellow at the Texas Heart Institute. Together, MJ and his wife have a son, a daughter-in-law and two lovely grand children.
