Biography
Kate Chappell joined the WDJT family in August of 2015, and is excited to be back in her home state co-anchoring the morning show weekdays from 4:30-7:00 AM. She is looking forward to working alongside Jessica Tighe and the entire morning news team.
Kate grew up in southeastern Wisconsin and is a proud UW Badger Alumna. Prior to joining CBS 58, she worked in South Bend, Indiana as a morning anchor and reporter. While there, she covered stories that garnered national attention, including the University of Notre Dame’s quest for the collegiate National Football Championship, the passing of Father Theodore Hesburgh, as well as a variety of other area happenings. Kate was also instrumental in developing several new concepts in the show including a daily “City by City” report.
Kate attended and graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Madison where she double majored in Journalism and Political Science. While attending college she feels fortunate to have held a number of internships both in radio and television production as well as working in the online video department for the highly acclaimed Badger Herald student newspaper.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with friends and family, fitness and sports, trying new restaurants, and traveling. She is especially looking forward to exploring the different areas of Milwaukee and taking on an active role within the community. She loves the variety journalism brings to her life. Every day is different and filled with new challenges where she has the opportunity to meet new people and discuss the issues at hand.
