Biography

Carlos Montez Chaverst Jr. is a proud native of the historic city of Birmingham.

Carlos is a mentor and professional motivational speaker. He currently leads the Alabama Youth Move chapter of the National Action Network, an organization founded in 1991 by the Reverend Al Sharpton. Carlos has appeared on CNN/HLN’s hit Show “After Dark” as a juror and criminal analyst. Mr. Chaverst has written articles on the topic of Corporal Punishment which has been published in countries around the world including Japan, Italy, Hong Kong, China, and of course the United States. Carlos has been quoted in articles with large news organizations including, USA Today, The Washington Post, and Huffington Post on the topic of corporal punishment, Carlos is also featured in a Hollywood film Board of Education which released December 2013.

His many gifts and talents also includes writing television show scripts, play writing, acting, music and movie producing, and event hosting. Carlos has a huge heart for his city, Birmingham, Alabama. In 2011 Carlos hosted a week long series with the local ABC affiliate 33/40 dealing with teenage issues including drugs, alcohol, sexting, and pregnancy. On June 22, 2012 he was presented a NABJ (National Association of Black Journalist) Award for the series. Carlos is known for his previous work on President Barack Obama’s Re-Election campaign in 2012 as a Field Director/Organizer in Alabama and Florida.

His organizational skills were a contributing factor to the President winning the great state of Florida as well registering more than 500 new voters in the states of Florida. This is only a brief description of the work Mr. Chaverst has done to transform the world into a better place for everyone. Carlos has worked diligently to fight for issues such as gun violence, Medicaid expansion, and education reform.
