Biography
McDavid, a De Soto native, began his college years at the University of Missouri-Rolla, now Missouri University of Science and Technology, originally with an interest in mechanical engineering. One year later, in 1966, he transferred to the University of Missouri for medical school as a chemistry major. His third year into the program, he developed an interest in obstetrics and gynecology. He graduated in 1972, completed his residency in 1976 and practiced at Boone Hospital until his retirement in 2003, when he then began consulting for the Missouri Board of Healing Arts. McDavid has delivered more than 5,000 babies in his 27-year career.
Crime has been a major focus of McDavid’s campaign. Although he’s concerned about its effect on safety, he’s also concerned about its effect economically. McDavid is the only mayoral candidate who has offered full support of downtown surveillance cameras. He also supports police use of Tasers.
