Biography
Sam Merrill has been one of the faces of TV5 for more than two decades.
From 1990 to 1999, he was an anchor and reporter at TV5. In 1999, he returned to his boyhood home of Pittsburgh to anchor “Action News This Morning” for WTAE. He anchored the station’s Emmy winning morning newscast for three years, before returning to mid-Michigan in March of 2002.
Sam is very active in the community, having served at various times on the boards of The Bridge Center for Racial Harmony, Saginaw County Chapter of American Red Cross, The Disability Network, the Genesee Food Bank, and the Central Michigan University Alumni Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Saginaw.
He loves reading; particularly books about politics and history. He is an avid runner, who’s competed in half-marathons and the Crim Festival of Races 10-mile run many times. Sam, his wife Katy and their son James live in Saginaw Township.
