PERSON: Marcelas Owens

Marcelas Owens was 11 years old when he stood next to Barack Obama when the Affordable Cart and Patient Protection Act was signed into law in 2010. Owens’ mother was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2006. She eventually lost her job and her health insurance. Owens’ says that because she lost her insurance she died from her disease.
