PERSON: Michelle Backus

Michelle was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Penn State University with a double major in Economics and Broadcast Journalism. She minored in Business and International Studies. She previously was the main anchor and reporter at the Centre County Report where she covered national stories such as the Beta Theta Pi hazing death. For the past four years, Michelle was also heavily involved as a Public Relations Brand Manager for the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, THON. She worked with Penn State Children’s Hospital to raise funding for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
