Biography

Michael Tobin joined Fox News Channel as a Dallas-based correspondent after serving as general reporter and substitute anchor for the FOX affiliate WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida. He is now based in FNC's Chicago bureau.

Tobin has covered an array of stories spanning his career as a correspondent. Recently, during the past year in May 2011, Tobin traveled to Joplin, Missouri to cover the aftermath of the state's deadliest tornado since the 1950s. In 2010, he provided on-site coverage from the Israeli-Lebanese border during the conflict in the Middle East. He has also covered Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's hospitalization in Jerusalem, the evacuation of Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip, the Iraqi elections in Baghdad and Operation Iraqi Freedom from Centcom in Doha, Qatar.

Before he joined WSVN, Tobin worked at WSAZ-TV (NBC) in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was a general assignment reporter and anchor for the station's Saturday morning news program. He began his career as a reporter and anchor/producer for the weekend programs at WMDT-TV (ABC) in Salisbury, Maryland.

Tobin has received several local Associated Press Awards for news reporting and is a graduate of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunications.
