Lloyd Alton Doggett II (born October 6, 1946) is an American lawyer and politician who is a U.S. representative from Texas. A member of the Democratic Party, he has represented a district based in Austin since 1995, currently numbered as Texas’s 37th congressional district.
Doggett was previously a member of the Texas Senate and a justice of the Texas Supreme Court.
Doggett is the Dean of Texas’s congressional delegation; he previously shared the deanship with Sheila Jackson Lee until her death.
Doggett was the first sitting Democratic congressperson to call on Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
