PERSON: Matt Welch

Matt Welch joined FOX Business Network (FBN) as a contributor in 2013 and serves as co-host of the primetime program The Independents.

In addition to his duties at FBN, Welch is currently the Editor in Chief of Reason magazine. He is the co-author of the 2011 book The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What's Wrong With America and author of the 2007 book McCain: The Myth of a Maverick.

Before Reason, Welch served as the assistant editorial pages editor for the Los Angeles Times. Prior to that, he worked for The National Post, WorkingForChange.com, and contributed to the Online Journalism Review. Welch lived in Central Europe for eight years and co-founded the first post-communist English-language newspaper, Prognosis.
