Biography

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Rodzali bin Daud RMAF was born in Besut, Terengganu on 11th March 1955. He had his earlier education at Tengku Mahmood School, Besut followed by secondary school education at the Boys Wing, Royal Military College. After undergoing cadet officer training, he was commissioned as a Pilot officer in the RMAF on 31st October 1973. He graduated from basic and advance flying at the Flying Training School, Royal Australian Air Force, Australia in 1974 and subsequently served as squadron pilot at No. 6 (Tebuan CL-41G) and No. 12 (F-5E) fighter squadrons. His earlier command experience includes the appointment as Acting Commandant of No 3 FTC (Pilatus PC 7 and Aermacchi MB 339A), Squadron Commander of Fighter Squadron No. 12 (F-5E) and later No. 17 Squadron (MiG 29N). He has also served as Base Commander of Kuantan Air Base.

He had held various management positions since 1988. These include Staff Officer at Air Defence Command, Head of MiG 29N Project Team in Moscow and the Defence Attaché at the Malaysia Embassy, also in Moscow. He has served at the Air Operations Headquarters as the Director of Operations and Exercises, at Air Force Headquarters as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Planning and Development, Commander of Air Training Command and later Commander of No. 1 Air Division.

Before assuming his current appointment as Chief of Air Force he served as Air Operations Commander at Air
Operations Headquarters.

He is a graduate of New Zealand Air Command and Staff College in 1989. In addition, he is also a graduate of the Malaysia Armed Forces Defence College in 2002 with an accreditation of Masters in Defence Studies from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). In 2006 he graduated from the Pakistan National Defence College with a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the Quaid - i - Azam University.

Among the honour bestowed upon him was The Legion of Merit (Degree of Commander), awarded by the President of The United States of America in May 2012.

He is married to Asnah binti Din and blessed with two sons. His hobbies include traveling, reading and out door activities. He also enjoys playing golf.
