Introducing: Grabien API (& lots of platform upgrades!)

Media colleagues —

For years you've worked Grabien through the browser — searching, clipping, pulling transcripts one segment at a time. Today that opens up. We're launching the Grabien API: programmatic access to our broadcast, radio, podcast, and print databases, built to wire straight into your own dashboards, alerts, and AI workflows.

In short, most of what you do in Grabien by hand, you can now automate — search across networks, pull transcripts and clips, as well as real-time monitoring. Access is approval-only and priced in API Credits, so it stays a premium tool for qualified, enterprise clients rather than an open feed. Accompanying the API, additional API credit and Transcript packs are now available on the Members → Purchase Packs page, so you can scale usage as needed. I’ve been kicking the tires the last two months, and the possibilities are virtually unlimited. I’ve built a personal dashboard that monitors various search terms on specific stations, running sweeps at certain hours; sweeps of specific cities; sweeps of specific lawmakers, as well as tools for natural language searching, data visualization, and deeper media intelligence. All of these appear in constantly updating columns I scan for updates throughout the day a la Tweetdeck (AKA X Pro); whenever I see something clip worthy, I click “clip” and within seconds it’s ready for download. 

That's the headline, but we’ve also made a number of other upgrades to the platform. Here’s a quick rundown:

1. Market-wide alerts. Set alerts for an entire market, or several markets at once, instead of station by station — look for the new "Scope" selector on the alert-editing page.

2. LiveShare transcript downloads. Export any LiveShare transcript as plain text, Word, PDF, or SRT files with timecodes.

3. Granular team controls. Account owners can now set access rights per sublogin from the new "Access rights" tab, enabling or disabling specific features for each team member. Sublogins can also set their own respective timezone. (This also offers us more flexibility on pricing for multi-seat accounts.) 

4. Richer clip exports. The clip-data export on your My Media page now includes every available field, and you can bulk-download any playlist as a single zipped archive.

5. Full podcast coverage list. Every podcast we capture is now listed on the All Markets page. For those keeping score at home, Grabien now monitors 165 TV markets, 679 stations, and 2,393 news programs — in addition to the dozens of daily direct news feeds. 

6. Premium content. Exclusive publishers can now mark uploads as exclusive when adding clips to ClipsBank; exclusive ClipsBank content is available via Premium Credits. (If you’re producing original news reporting and would like to considered for our premium tier, please contact us.) 

We’ve also made upgades to Grabien’s calendar, EventsHorizon: 

• The full events calendar is live: open any day and click through to complete details on each event, and search across everything we track.
• Visitors can vote on the federal hearings they most want covered and submit events we've missed (including those your organization is hosting). Our partners at FedNet will be notified whenever specific congressional hearings are in demand.
• EventsHorizon now has a morning newsletter, so subscribers can start their day with a heads up on the news-making events most likely to shape the day ahead.
