New Feature: Researching Word Counts in Clips, TV

11/16/2018

If you’ve ever wanted to know how many times a news network used a particular word, or expression, Grabien now makes that easy. This tool also works for our database of pre-edited news clips.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go the NewsBase
  2. Enter your search term in the transcript field (if you want to search for a prase and not just a single word — such as climate change, put it in double quotes, like “climate change”), then choose the networks you want to search, and the date range.
  3. Click the button the bottom right under “Clear” that looks like a graph.

That’s it!

With this tool, you can see how one network, or news program, is covering a story versus another, track how coverage is changing over time, etc.

If you’d like to run similar searches for just pre-edited news clips, go to the ClipsBank, and repeat the same steps (again, click the graph button at the bottom right).

Thanks & Happy Friday,

Grabien
