BANFIELD I now have ░░░░░░░░ chance to speak with ░░░░░░░░ Jeffress Why Because she ░░░░░░░░ a lawyer who once ░░░░░░░░ at the Justice Department ░░░░░░░░ Judge Merrick Garland and ░░░░░░░░ knows him personally Thank ░░░░░░░░ so much for springing ░░░░░░░░ and doing this as ░░░░░░░░ last minute notice Amy ░░░░░░░░ you I wanted to ░░░░░░░░ you about the whole ░░░░░░░░ Mary notion of this ░░░░░░░░ The nomination process I ░░░░░░░░ sure you know as ░░░░░░░░ as anybody else is ░░░░░░░░ to be rocky request ░░░░░░░░ it s even going ░░░░░░░░ happen And I m ░░░░░░░░ that Merrick Garland knows ░░░░░░░░ too With that in ░░░░░░░░ qualify for me this ░░░░░░░░ JEFFRESS So I m ░░░░░░░░ lawyer not a political ░░░░░░░░ but I have to ░░░░░░░░ that from a lawyer ░░░░░░░░ perspective he is absolutely ░░░░░░░░ outstanding nominee And I ░░░░░░░░ that that came through ░░░░░░░░ the ceremony this morning ░░░░░░░░ is eminently qualified to ░░░░░░░░ on the court And ░░░░░░░░ don t think that ░░░░░░░░ would argue with his ░░░░░░░░ He s had decades ░░░░░░░░ experience on the D ░░░░░░░░ circuit and before that ░░░░░░░░ of experience in private ░░░░░░░░ and at the Justice ░░░░░░░░ as a lawyer which ░░░░░░░░ a great qualification to ░░░░░░░░ able bring to the ░░░░░░░░ And so if just ░░░░░░░░ wonderful day for those ░░░░░░░░ us who have worked ░░░░░░░░ him and for the ░░░░░░░░ community and I imagine ░░░░░░░░ the court as well ░░░░░░░░ has personal relationships with ░░░░░░░░ of the other justices ░░░░░░░░ I think that will ░░░░░░░░ him very well when ░░░░░░░░ is on the court ░░░░░░░░ And a personal relationship ░░░░░░░░ Justice John Roberts the ░░░░░░░░ justice which is pretty ░░░░░░░░ as well Amy one ░░░░░░░░ for you about something ░░░░░░░░ a lot of people ░░░░░░░░ not know about Judge ░░░░░░░░ he made partner in ░░░░░░░░ very prestigious firm in ░░░░░░░░ C and he gave ░░░░░░░░ up to be a ░░░░░░░░ prosecutors at the DoJ ░░░░░░░░ mean you re giving ░░░░░░░░ hundreds of thousands of ░░░░░░░░ for maybe a few ░░░░░░░░ of thousands of dollars ░░░░░░░░ a lot of people ░░░░░░░░ that move that he ░░░░░░░░ as something that shows ░░░░░░░░ is absolutely a public ░░░░░░░░ first So with that ░░░░░░░░ mind that should tell ░░░░░░░░ something about this guy ░░░░░░░░ cachet Do you think ░░░░░░░░ is a move that ░░░░░░░░ president if it s ░░░░░░░░ the Hail Mary or ░░░░░░░░ successful Hail Mary that ░░░░░░░░ would at least show ░░░░░░░░ who is against him ░░░░░░░░ against a guy whose ░░░░░░░░ perfect JEFFRESS He really ░░░░░░░░ perfect to the court ░░░░░░░░ you make an excellent ░░░░░░░░ about his going to ░░░░░░░░ U S attorney s ░░░░░░░░ to serve as a ░░░░░░░░ attorney a line prosecutor ░░░░░░░░ can imagine that that ░░░░░░░░ him a lot of ░░░░░░░░ with the office and ░░░░░░░░ are many people who ░░░░░░░░ him at the U ░░░░░░░░ attorney s office in ░░░░░░░░ days who are still ░░░░░░░░ loyal and dedicated to ░░░░░░░░ and just appreciate how ░░░░░░░░ did give up a ░░░░░░░░ to go to that ░░░░░░░░ But it does show ░░░░░░░░ dedication to public service ░░░░░░░░ Yes JEFFRESS And of ░░░░░░░░ I knew him initially ░░░░░░░░ the Justice Department where ░░░░░░░░ got to see that ░░░░░░░░ day just the dedication ░░░░░░░░ someone who is such ░░░░░░░░ good lawyer and such ░░░░░░░░ outstanding person as well ░░░░░░░░ work for and to ░░░░░░░░ with on a daily ░░░░░░░░ BANFIELD And I called ░░░░░░░░ Judge Merrick and he ░░░░░░░░ Judge Garland because I ░░░░░░░░ still getting used to ░░░░░░░░ two last names together ░░░░░░░░ he s no judge ░░░░░░░░ Let s put it ░░░░░░░░ way He is Judge ░░░░░░░░ Mary Amy thank you ░░░░░░░░ mind I m Carol ░░░░░░░░ you so much Amy ░░░░░░░░ I appreciate it JEFFRESS ░░░░░░░░ you.”
