KING The high incarceration ░░░░░░░░ are really just another ░░░░░░░░ and symptom of institutional ░░░░░░░░ and white supremacy The ░░░░░░░░ you re seeing so ░░░░░░░░ young black men in ░░░░░░░░ now is the confluence ░░░░░░░░ racist criminal justice system ░░░░░░░░ law enforcement racist education ░░░░░░░░ racist health care system ░░░░░░░░ these things are racist ░░░░░░░░ classist and the two ░░░░░░░░ intertwined So I feel ░░░░░░░░ the reason that you ░░░░░░░░ seeing those high incarceration ░░░░░░░░ besides the draconian drug ░░░░░░░░ are just a confluence ░░░░░░░░ the confluence of white ░░░░░░░░ really MATTHEWS Do you ░░░░░░░░ that police officers do ░░░░░░░░ and frisk or any ░░░░░░░░ kind of exercise in ░░░░░░░░ to capture young men ░░░░░░░░ drug charges KING I ░░░░░░░░ that they do it ░░░░░░░░ police do stop and ░░░░░░░░ I think to get ░░░░░░░░ in the system and ░░░░░░░░ really to infect our ░░░░░░░░ and to make us ░░░░░░░░ that that s where ░░░░░░░░ belong and that this ░░░░░░░░ the way we should ░░░░░░░░ treated You know the ░░░░░░░░ time I was approached ░░░░░░░░ the cops they asked ░░░░░░░░ two questions They asked ░░░░░░░░ Where are the drugs ░░░░░░░░ Do you have any ░░░░░░░░ on you Where are ░░░░░░░░ drugs And they asked ░░░░░░░░ When was the last ░░░░░░░░ you were arrested And ░░░░░░░░ only time I ve ░░░░░░░░ seen a jail cell ░░░░░░░░ when I was kidnapped ░░░░░░░░ the cops when I ░░░░░░░░ in 11th grade So ░░░░░░░░ know I got very ░░░░░░░░ obviously and to me ░░░░░░░░ frankly and not to ░░░░░░░░ I hope I m ░░░░░░░░ using inappropriate language on ░░░░░░░░ show but to me ░░░░░░░░ like those are far ░░░░░░░░ than calling me a ░░░░░░░░ honestly And watching the ░░░░░░░░ Martin trial it just ░░░░░░░░ a greater example of ░░░░░░░░ Folks talked about how ░░░░░░░░ was you know race ░░░░░░░░ not have been a ░░░░░░░░ but to me we ░░░░░░░░ living under 8th degree ░░░░░░░░ belt racism you know ░░░░░░░░ I mean Whereas Jim ░░░░░░░░ was like yellow belt ░░░░░░░░ you know It s ░░░░░░░░ where you kick me ░░░░░░░░ I take 20 steps ░░░░░░░░ and then I die.’”
