BRENNAN This was the ░░░░░░░░ this week the 18th ░░░░░░░░ the 9 11 attacks ░░░░░░░░ our country And at ░░░░░░░░ Ground Zero well remembrance ░░░░░░░░ I ll call it ░░░░░░░░ son of one of ░░░░░░░░ victims stood up and ░░░░░░░░ called out language you ░░░░░░░░ used in the past ░░░░░░░░ he characterized as not ░░░░░░░░ when referring to 3 ░░░░░░░░ people who were killed ░░░░░░░░ Al Qaeda You said ░░░░░░░░ people did something and ░░░░░░░░ put it right there ░░░░░░░░ his T shirt Do ░░░░░░░░ you understand why people ░░░░░░░░ that offensive OMAR I ░░░░░░░░ so 9 11 was ░░░░░░░░ attack on all Americans ░░░░░░░░ was an attack on ░░░░░░░░ of us And I ░░░░░░░░ could not understand the ░░░░░░░░ of the pain that ░░░░░░░░ victims of the the ░░░░░░░░ of 9 11 must ░░░░░░░░ But I think it ░░░░░░░░ really important for us ░░░░░░░░ make sure that we ░░░░░░░░ not forgetting right the ░░░░░░░░ of what happened after ░░░░░░░░ 11 Many Americans found ░░░░░░░░ now having their civil ░░░░░░░░ stripped from them And ░░░░░░░░ what I was speaking ░░░░░░░░ was the fact that ░░░░░░░░ a Muslim not only ░░░░░░░░ I suffering as an ░░░░░░░░ who was attacked on ░░░░░░░░ day but the next ░░░░░░░░ I woke up as ░░░░░░░░ fellow Americans were now ░░░░░░░░ me a suspect BRENNAN ░░░░░░░░ you do you feel ░░░░░░░░ it s been tough ░░░░░░░░ you here in Washington ░░░░░░░░ change your rhetoric to ░░░░░░░░ be less of an ░░░░░░░░ and try to be ░░░░░░░░ legislator That that sometimes ░░░░░░░░ language you use has ░░░░░░░░ in your own way ░░░░░░░░ I certainly don t ░░░░░░░░ that You know when ░░░░░░░░ were celebrating few nights ░░░░░░░░ I talked about how ░░░░░░░░ people would say Ilhan ░░░░░░░░ should speak a certain ░░░░░░░░ Ilhan you should do ░░░░░░░░ a certain way and ░░░░░░░░ think that s contradictory ░░░░░░░░ to the purpose of ░░░░░░░░ my existence in this ░░░░░░░░ I believe that my ░░░░░░░░ sent me to make ░░░░░░░░ that I was bringing ░░░░░░░░ a conversation that others ░░░░░░░░ t having that I ░░░░░░░░ speaking for people who ░░░░░░░░ voiceless for a long ░░░░░░░░ And I think it ░░░░░░░░ really important for us ░░░░░░░░ recognize that it s ░░░░░░░░ new Congress It s ░░░░░░░░ diverse Congress and we ░░░░░░░░ not only diverse in ░░░░░░░░ race or ethnicity or ░░░░░░░░ but we are also ░░░░░░░░ in our perspective in ░░░░░░░░ pain and our struggles ░░░░░░░░ in the hopes and ░░░░░░░░ that we have and ░░░░░░░░ kind of America that ░░░░░░░░ want to shape for ░░░░░░░░ of us.”
