AG Barr: It’s an Honor to Serve Under a President Who Is So Strongly a Supporter of Law Enforcement

BARR Good morning everybody ░░░░░░░░ thank you for joining ░░░░░░░░ today I would like ░░░░░░░░ thank President Trump for ░░░░░░░░ this ceremony And let ░░░░░░░░ say it s an ░░░░░░░░ to serve under a ░░░░░░░░ who is so strongly ░░░░░░░░ supporter of law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ has the back of ░░░░░░░░ officers and first responders ░░░░░░░░ you Mr President Applause ░░░░░░░░ ve come together to ░░░░░░░░ the extraordinary actions of ░░░░░░░░ fellow citizens The president ░░░░░░░░ chosen to honor five ░░░░░░░░ from Texas who displayed ░░░░░░░░ extraordinary degree of care ░░░░░░░░ their fellow man putting ░░░░░░░░ own lives at risk ░░░░░░░░ also honor six police ░░░░░░░░ from Ohio who put ░░░░░░░░ between a gunman and ░░░░░░░░ crowd of innocent civilians ░░░░░░░░ the people out in ░░░░░░░░ that night these officers ░░░░░░░░ the thin blue line ░░░░░░░░ life and death The ░░░░░░░░ of these six officers ░░░░░░░░ that while that line ░░░░░░░░ be thin it is ░░░░░░░░ strong Established in 2001 ░░░░░░░░ Medal of Valor is ░░░░░░░░ nation s highest public ░░░░░░░░ award Officers across the ░░░░░░░░ are nominated by their ░░░░░░░░ but only a handful ░░░░░░░░ selected to receive this ░░░░░░░░ Traditionally this process occurs ░░░░░░░░ once a year However ░░░░░░░░ law permits the attorney ░░░░░░░░ to expand the total ░░░░░░░░ of recipients when exceptional ░░░░░░░░ of bravery arise And ░░░░░░░░ that s what we ░░░░░░░░ this year In my ░░░░░░░░ and in the eyes ░░░░░░░░ our nation this special ░░░░░░░░ is warranted Valor is ░░░░░░░░ word we don t ░░░░░░░░ hear People can show ░░░░░░░░ and bravery confronting many ░░░░░░░░ challenges in life But ░░░░░░░░ is a willing putting ░░░░░░░░ in mortal danger to ░░░░░░░░ others We humans have ░░░░░░░░ powerful instinct to flee ░░░░░░░░ peril It takes a ░░░░░░░░ kind of courage a ░░░░░░░░ sense of duty and ░░░░░░░░ character to overcome these ░░░░░░░░ and for the sake ░░░░░░░░ others to run toward ░░░░░░░░ danger and we thank ░░░░░░░░ that on that horrible ░░░░░░░░ in Dayton we had ░░░░░░░░ of these qualities As ░░░░░░░░ honor the valor of ░░░░░░░░ men we must recognize ░░░░░░░░ we cannot take them ░░░░░░░░ their brothers and sisters ░░░░░░░░ law enforcement for granted ░░░░░░░░ as a police officer ░░░░░░░░ the toughest job in ░░░░░░░░ country and as they ░░░░░░░░ themselves on the line ░░░░░░░░ keep us safe they ░░░░░░░░ our gratitude and support ░░░░░░░░ are grateful not just ░░░░░░░░ the courage of these ░░░░░░░░ but also of their ░░░░░░░░ And we salute those ░░░░░░░░ here today You encounter ░░░░░░░░ days and restless nights ░░░░░░░░ you endure them for ░░░░░░░░ of us Our very ░░░░░░░░ to live normal lives ░░░░░░░░ go to school to ░░░░░░░░ to work and to ░░░░░░░░ our aspirations without fear ░░░░░░░░ only because of your ░░░░░░░░ The brave actions of ░░░░░░░░ s honorees from Dayton ░░░░░░░░ from El Paso should ░░░░░░░░ in all of us ░░░░░░░░ new dedication to service ░░░░░░░░ selflessness on behalf of ░░░░░░░░ communities So God bless ░░░░░░░░ heroes and their families ░░░░░░░░ thank you Mr President ░░░░░░░░ the opportunity to express ░░░░░░░░ appreciation today.”
