BALDWIN CNN s Will ░░░░░░░░ is with me now ░░░░░░░░ s actually based in ░░░░░░░░ Kong Hoping to get ░░░░░░░░ flight back into Hong ░░░░░░░░ so you can be ░░░░░░░░ tomorrow to cover this ░░░░░░░░ us But first of ░░░░░░░░ who are these protesters ░░░░░░░░ do they want RIPLEY ░░░░░░░░ are young people primarily ░░░░░░░░ feel that they re ░░░░░░░░ for their future the ░░░░░░░░ of Hong Kong They ░░░░░░░░ that 2047 is the ░░░░░░░░ that China takes back ░░░░░░░░ control Because one country ░░░░░░░░ systems was guaranteed from ░░░░░░░░ handover from British rule ░░░░░░░░ 97 until 2047 But ░░░░░░░░ fear in Hong Kong ░░░░░░░░ some is that China ░░░░░░░░ moving that deadline up ░░░░░░░░ they ve built a ░░░░░░░░ that connects Hong Kong ░░░░░░░░ to the mainland There ░░░░░░░░ a high speed rail ░░░░░░░░ And you have an ░░░░░░░░ feeling that China is ░░░░░░░░ more heavy handed And ░░░░░░░░ triggered these protests was ░░░░░░░░ extradition bill proposed by ░░░░░░░░ Kong s chief executive ░░░░░░░░ Lam that would have ░░░░░░░░ China to extradite suspects ░░░░░░░░ to the mainland accused ░░░░░░░░ crimes by Beijing The ░░░░░░░░ amongst people in Hong ░░░░░░░░ is that those crimes ░░░░░░░░ include speaking out against ░░░░░░░░ Communist Party effectively stifling ░░░░░░░░ of speech and freedom ░░░░░░░░ expression in Hong Kong ░░░░░░░░ s what started all ░░░░░░░░ this but it has ░░░░░░░░ devolved into something much ░░░░░░░░ and much more violent ░░░░░░░░ So is China stepping ░░░░░░░░ and is what the ░░░░░░░░ tweeted about the military ░░░░░░░░ the border is that ░░░░░░░░ s happening RIPLEY I ░░░░░░░░ not sure what intelligence ░░░░░░░░ s referring to but ░░░░░░░░ we have seen in ░░░░░░░░ days are a number ░░░░░░░░ videos posted by some ░░░░░░░░ state media showing military ░░░░░░░░ police assembling in Shenzhen ░░░░░░░░ if they drive on ░░░░░░░░ bridge that was just ░░░░░░░░ within the last year ░░░░░░░░ can get to Hong ░░░░░░░░ military vehicles Chinese authorities ░░░░░░░░ a very short period ░░░░░░░░ time A lot of ░░░░░░░░ at this stage believe ░░░░░░░░ is still Beijing trying ░░░░░░░░ send a message almost ░░░░░░░░ intimidation of warning of ░░░░░░░░ could happen But look ░░░░░░░░ think the Chinese government ░░░░░░░░ slowly building the case ░░░░░░░░ there might be people ░░░░░░░░ Hong Kong a large ░░░░░░░░ of them at this ░░░░░░░░ who would support some ░░░░░░░░ of intervention because they ░░░░░░░░ like the Hong Kong ░░░░░░░░ have been overwhelmed But ░░░░░░░░ has to be very ░░░░░░░░ because once they make ░░░░░░░░ decision they re not ░░░░░░░░ to go in halfway ░░░░░░░░ these are optics Some ░░░░░░░░ already calling it Tienanmen ░░░░░░░░ 2 0 We re ░░░░░░░░ there yet but we ░░░░░░░░ getting closer and closer.”
