BASH You ve announced ░░░░░░░░ big speech coming up ░░░░░░░░ coming week about Democratic ░░░░░░░░ You gave a similar ░░░░░░░░ back in 2015 Do ░░░░░░░░ think now the country ░░░░░░░░ more ready for a ░░░░░░░░ socialist president like you ░░░░░░░░ it was four years ░░░░░░░░ SANDERS I think the ░░░░░░░░ is yes but I ░░░░░░░░ it s important for ░░░░░░░░ American people to understand ░░░░░░░░ my definition is of ░░░░░░░░ socialism It s certainly ░░░░░░░░ how Donald Trump defines ░░░░░░░░ I have spent my ░░░░░░░░ life fighting for democracy ░░░░░░░░ against authoritarianism whether it ░░░░░░░░ in the Soviet Union ░░░░░░░░ or anyplace else But ░░░░░░░░ I believe when we ░░░░░░░░ about Democratic socialism is ░░░░░░░░ one we have to ░░░░░░░░ with the massive levels ░░░░░░░░ income and wealth inequality ░░░░░░░░ this country By the ░░░░░░░░ Dana this is not ░░░░░░░░ we see on TV ░░░░░░░░ often but we do ░░░░░░░░ to deal with it ░░░░░░░░ a nation Is it ░░░░░░░░ that three families in ░░░░░░░░ now own more wealth ░░░░░░░░ the bottom half of ░░░░░░░░ American people Is it ░░░░░░░░ that the top 1 ░░░░░░░░ owns more wealth than ░░░░░░░░ bottom 92 percent or ░░░░░░░░ 49 percent of all ░░░░░░░░ income goes to the ░░░░░░░░ 1 percent If we ░░░░░░░░ a real democracy is ░░░░░░░░ appropriate that you have ░░░░░░░░ handful of billionaires who ░░░░░░░░ spend hundreds of millions ░░░░░░░░ dollars to elect U ░░░░░░░░ senators members of the ░░░░░░░░ governors even presidents What ░░░░░░░░ have to do I ░░░░░░░░ sorry what I mean ░░░░░░░░ Democratic socialism is creating ░░░░░░░░ government that works for ░░░░░░░░ not controlled either legislatively ░░░░░░░░ politically by a handful ░░░░░░░░ very wealthy people That ░░░░░░░░ number one Number two ░░░░░░░░ means that in America ░░░░░░░░ have certain economic rights ░░░░░░░░ are human rights human ░░░░░░░░ Health care to my ░░░░░░░░ is not a privilege ░░░░░░░░ s a human right ░░░░░░░░ s what Democratic socialism ░░░░░░░░ to me It means ░░░░░░░░ if you work 40 ░░░░░░░░ a week in this ░░░░░░░░ you should not be ░░░░░░░░ in poverty It means ░░░░░░░░ shouldn t have half ░░░░░░░░ million people tonight sleeping ░░░░░░░░ on the street It ░░░░░░░░ that we do not ░░░░░░░░ more people in jail ░░░░░░░░ any other country on ░░░░░░░░ So when I talk ░░░░░░░░ Democratic socialism it means ░░░░░░░░ vibrant democracy and an ░░░░░░░░ that work for all ░░░░░░░░ just the people on ░░░░░░░░
