Eric Holder: When Republicans Go Low, ‘We Kick Them’

[excerpt HOLDER We re ░░░░░░░░ lot more tolerant than ░░░░░░░░ would have us believe ░░░░░░░░ re a lot more ░░░░░░░░ than Trump would have ░░░░░░░░ believe We re a ░░░░░░░░ nation than Trump would ░░░░░░░░ people think of us ░░░░░░░░ a country And frankly ░░░░░░░░ re better than the ░░░░░░░░ would have us be ░░░░░░░░ And that means it ░░░░░░░░ not only at the ░░░░░░░░ level it s at ░░░░░░░░ state level as well ░░░░░░░░ Republicans have done all ░░░░░░░░ possibly can to try ░░░░░░░░ you know break up ░░░░░░░░ democracy keep people away ░░░░░░░░ the polls with these ░░░░░░░░ ID laws you know ░░░░░░░░ they say there s ░░░░░░░░ kinds of voter fraud ░░░░░░░░ s never any proof ░░░░░░░░ Center says that you ░░░░░░░░ more likely to be ░░░░░░░░ by lightning than to ░░░░░░░░ a fraudulent vote All ░░░░░░░░ But they put all ░░░░░░░░ voter ID laws in ░░░░░░░░ to keep certain people ░░░░░░░░ from the polls Here ░░░░░░░░ an example In Texas ░░░░░░░░ you have a state ░░░░░░░░ concealed carry permit right ░░░░░░░░ your picture on it ░░░░░░░░ will allow you to ░░░░░░░░ If you have a ░░░░░░░░ issued student ID from ░░░░░░░░ University of Texas that ░░░░░░░░ not sufficient to allow ░░░░░░░░ to vote Now what ░░░░░░░░ that tell you You ░░░░░░░░ who does that tell ░░░░░░░░ they want to let ░░░░░░░░ into the polls and ░░░░░░░░ are they trying to ░░░░░░░░ out And what you ░░░░░░░░ in Texas is replicated ░░░░░░░░ in Georgia as well ░░░░░░░░ they have tried to ░░░░░░░░ gerrymander they tried to ░░░░░░░░ gerrymander they tried to ░░░░░░░░ redistricting mid cycle Redistricting ░░░░░░░░ every ten years Here ░░░░░░░░ re trying to do ░░░░░░░░ mid cycle when they ░░░░░░░░ that people of color ░░░░░░░░ starting to populate the ░░░░░░░░ of Atlanta They said ░░░░░░░░ what do we We ░░░░░░░░ redistrict now What do ░░░░░░░░ do We filed a ░░░░░░░░ and we have a ░░░░░░░░ of other lawsuits here ░░░░░░░░ that we can create ░░░░░░░░ minority districts here in ░░░░░░░░ with regard to Congress ░░░░░░░░ have used the power ░░░░░░░░ they have gotten for ░░░░░░░░ the wrong things They ░░░░░░░░ to keep themselves in ░░░░░░░░ They want to cater ░░░░░░░░ the special interests It ░░░░░░░░ time for us as ░░░░░░░░ to be as tough ░░░░░░░░ they are to be ░░░░░░░░ dedicated as they are ░░░░░░░░ be as committed as ░░░░░░░░ are Michelle always says ░░░░░░░░ Obama I love her ░░░░░░░░ know she and my ░░░░░░░░ like really tight which ░░░░░░░░ scares me and Barack ░░░░░░░░ says you know when ░░░░░░░░ go low we go ░░░░░░░░ No No When they ░░░░░░░░ low we kick Laughter ░░░░░░░░ Applause That s what ░░░░░░░░ new Democratic Party is ░░░░░░░░ We re proud as ░░░░░░░░ to be Democrats We ░░░░░░░░ willing to fight for ░░░░░░░░ ideals of the Democratic ░░░░░░░░ We re proud of ░░░░░░░░ history We re proud ░░░░░░░░ our present and we ░░░░░░░░ proud of the future ░░░░░░░░ we can create for ░░░░░░░░ country And we re ░░░░░░░░ in this just to ░░░░░░░░ a statement We re ░░░░░░░░ this to win All ░░░░░░░░ And the reality is ░░░░░░░░ we don t win ░░░░░░░░ who are less committed ░░░░░░░░ idealistic less imbued with ░░░░░░░░ values that make this ░░░░░░░░ really great will run ░░░░░░░░ country.”
