░░░░░░░░ You also celebrated John ░░░░░░░░ s maverick spirit You ░░░░░░░░ really the first Republican ░░░░░░░░ the northeast to endorse ░░░░░░░░ over Bush back in ░░░░░░░░ We have a picture ░░░░░░░░ the two of you ░░░░░░░░ there But you also ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump What do ░░░░░░░░ hope the President takes ░░░░░░░░ from all of those ░░░░░░░░ we heard KING Yeah ░░░░░░░░ me just say I ░░░░░░░░ support bipartisanship when we ░░░░░░░░ to have it Obviously ░░░░░░░░ fight for your own ░░░░░░░░ but there s nothing ░░░░░░░░ with getting together with ░░░░░░░░ other side you know ░░░░░░░░ it s going to ░░░░░░░░ out a worthwhile compromise ░░░░░░░░ I will say what ░░░░░░░░ me a little bit ░░░░░░░░ many of these politicians ░░░░░░░░ saying how great John ░░░░░░░░ was and I agree ░░░░░░░░ was great but many ░░░░░░░░ those same politicians really ░░░░░░░░ t come to his ░░░░░░░░ back in 2008 when ░░░░░░░░ Democrats were comparing him ░░░░░░░░ George Wallace implying that ░░░░░░░░ was a racist No ░░░░░░░░ came to his defense ░░░░░░░░ I remember even the ░░░░░░░░ media ridiculed him when ░░░░░░░░ was supporting the surge ░░░░░░░░ in 2007 and 2008 ░░░░░░░░ Iraq The only reason ░░░░░░░░ m saying it is ░░░░░░░░ s sort of a ░░░░░░░░ standard here But that ░░░░░░░░ t take away from ░░░░░░░░ main point that we ░░░░░░░░ try to be bipartisan ░░░░░░░░ we can be Right ░░░░░░░░ the Republicans are the ░░░░░░░░ party If we can ░░░░░░░░ arrangements where we re ░░░░░░░░ to get 60 40 ░░░░░░░░ 70 30 in agreements ░░░░░░░░ should take it Same ░░░░░░░░ Ronald Reagan with Tip ░░░░░░░░ Neill They were able ░░░░░░░░ sit down They disagreed ░░░░░░░░ completely but they were ░░░░░░░░ to find some common ░░░░░░░░ WELKER I guess the ░░░░░░░░ becomes for President Trump ░░░░░░░░ he not need to ░░░░░░░░ a leader in terms ░░░░░░░░ setting the tone and ░░░░░░░░ terms of working to ░░░░░░░░ across the aisle Has ░░░░░░░░ failed to do that ░░░░░░░░ he need to do ░░░░░░░░ in that regard congressman ░░░░░░░░ Yeah I think there ░░░░░░░░ an obligation on President ░░░░░░░░ There is also an ░░░░░░░░ on Nancy Pelosi and ░░░░░░░░ Schumer WELKER But he ░░░░░░░░ the president congressman He ░░░░░░░░ the president KING Yeah ░░░░░░░░ he is And I ░░░░░░░░ been at meetings with ░░░░░░░░ and Chuck Schumer for ░░░░░░░░ Andrew Cuomo Cory Booker ░░░░░░░░ ve seen him at ░░░░░░░░ meetings Again he doesn ░░░░░░░░ feel there is a ░░░░░░░░ coming but on the ░░░░░░░░ hand there have been ░░░░░░░░ There was an agreement ░░░░░░░░ the omnibus bill that ░░░░░░░░ negotiated between the White ░░░░░░░░ and Senator Schumer and ░░░░░░░░ Pelosi I mean there ░░░░░░░░ instances but again we ░░░░░░░░ in a very tough ░░░░░░░░ arena I would hope ░░░░░░░░ at least after the ░░░░░░░░ elections no matter how ░░░░░░░░ turn out that we ░░░░░░░░ make an effort I ░░░░░░░░ ask the President to ░░░░░░░░ to do that Also ░░░░░░░░ he does then certainly ░░░░░░░░ Schumer who I also ░░░░░░░░ a friend if he ░░░░░░░░ also extend the hand ░░░░░░░░ try to find a ░░░░░░░░ to get around the ░░░░░░░░ fields we have right ░░░░░░░░ the political killing fields ░░░░░░░░ if you disagree with ░░░░░░░░ right away you re when ░░░░░░░░ lot of terrible things ░░░░░░░░ said about John McCain ░░░░░░░░ Yeah And David Leonhardt ░░░░░░░░ The New York Times ░░░░░░░░ talks about what he ░░░░░░░░ to be hypocrisy at ░░░░░░░░ service He saw it ░░░░░░░░ little bit differently because ░░░░░░░░ points out that a ░░░░░░░░ of the folks who ░░░░░░░░ there to celebrate John ░░░░░░░░ s life haven t ░░░░░░░░ upholding the ideals that ░░░░░░░░ championed That relates to ░░░░░░░░ up to President Trump ░░░░░░░░ some instances Does he ░░░░░░░░ a point there KING ░░░░░░░░ Listen I mean I ░░░░░░░░ overall much of what ░░░░░░░░ Trump is doing but ░░░░░░░░ voted against him on ░░░░░░░░ tax bill because I ░░░░░░░░ it was damaging to ░░░░░░░░ northeast I opposed him ░░░░░░░░ far as his Russia ░░░░░░░░ So I think we ░░░░░░░░ to be able to ░░░░░░░░ and choose We have ░░░░░░░░ be able to not ░░░░░░░░ this view where you ░░░░░░░░ someone 100 percent or ░░░░░░░░ them 100 percent You ░░░░░░░░ to be willing to ░░░░░░░░ someone when you oppose ░░░░░░░░ but also stand with ░░░░░░░░ when the going gets ░░░░░░░░ on areas where you ░░░░░░░░ them I think both ░░░░░░░░ are guilty of this ░░░░░░░░ I agree I would ░░░░░░░░ after the election no ░░░░░░░░ how it turns out ░░░░░░░░ the President can reach ░░░░░░░░ and hopefully get a ░░░░░░░░ we can find a ░░░░░░░░ to move forward and ░░░░░░░░ least be able to ░░░░░░░░ some of the differences ░░░░░░░░ able to get agreement ░░░░░░░░ we can and not ░░░░░░░░ hold out to score ░░░░░░░░ political point in November.”
