SCARBOROUGH Gene Gene come ░░░░░░░░ Where did the editors ░░░░░░░░ up I m not ░░░░░░░░ this reporter a free ░░░░░░░░ crosstalk Robinson Don t ░░░░░░░░ SCARBOROUGH But at the ░░░░░░░░ time there has to ░░░░░░░░ somebody BRZEZINSKI There s ░░░░░░░░ of accountability in journalism ░░░░░░░░ Looking over her shoulder ░░░░░░░░ Well you ve got ░░░░░░░░ blame both because you ░░░░░░░░ got to blame the ░░░░░░░░ because the reporter did ░░░░░░░░ do basic sound reporting ░░░░░░░░ and did not contact ░░░░░░░░ who obviously should have ░░░░░░░░ contacted Used pseudonyms in ░░░░░░░░ way that shouldn t ░░░░░░░░ been used I mean ░░░░░░░░ is just basic reporting ░░░░░░░░ should have been done ░░░░░░░░ wasn t done Now ░░░░░░░░ editors are clearly culpable ░░░░░░░░ and didn t ask ░░░░░░░░ questions and demand the ░░░░░░░░ that they should have ░░░░░░░░ so they bear obvious ░░░░░░░░ here There is a ░░░░░░░░ of a difference to ░░░░░░░░ friend Tavis s point ░░░░░░░░ Jayson Blair Jayson Blair ░░░░░░░░ like made stuff up ░░░░░░░░ That s what happened ░░░░░░░░ Eugene They made stuff ░░░░░░░░ It s not that ░░░░░░░░ Robinson Well you know ░░░░░░░░ the source made stuff ░░░░░░░░ Now here s what ░░░░░░░░ this case the reporter ░░░░░░░░ seem to have gone ░░░░░░░░ the story with an ░░░░░░░░ And I think Joe ░░░░░░░░ absolutely right on that ░░░░░░░░ think the reporter and ░░░░░░░░ editors had an idea ░░░░░░░░ the story they wanted ░░░░░░░░ tell and how they ░░░░░░░░ to tell the story ░░░░░░░░ s wrong You should ░░░░░░░░ know obviously you have ░░░░░░░░ idea of where a ░░░░░░░░ is or what you ░░░░░░░░ to do I think ░░░░░░░░ reporter and the editors ░░░░░░░░ an idea of the ░░░░░░░░ they wanted to tell ░░░░░░░░ how they wanted to ░░░░░░░░ the story That s ░░░░░░░░ You should you know ░░░░░░░░ you have some idea ░░░░░░░░ where a story is ░░░░░░░░ what you want to ░░░░░░░░ They seem to have ░░░░░░░░ of a preconceived notion ░░░░░░░░ they should have But ░░░░░░░░ didn t make up ░░░░░░░░ whole narrative They just ░░░░░░░░ t report out the ░░░░░░░░ crosstalk]
