Cory Booker on Separating Children: This Is a Moral Crime in Our Nation

RUSH TRANSCRIPT MITCHELL I ░░░░░░░░ to ask you to ░░░░░░░░ to the president s ░░░░░░░░ about immigrants He first ░░░░░░░░ all has been falsely ░░░░░░░░ them of being all ░░░░░░░░ elements and emphasizing whatever ░░░░░░░░ picking of statistics to ░░░░░░░░ that they are responsible ░░░░░░░░ so much criminal violence ░░░░░░░░ is not the case ░░░░░░░░ But referring to them ░░░░░░░░ infecting America What is ░░░░░░░░ impact of that BOOKER ░░░░░░░░ in the courthouse I ░░░░░░░░ came out people pulled ░░░░░░░░ aside and said they ░░░░░░░░ Republicans and said they ░░░░░░░░ what is going on ░░░░░░░░ wrong That the knowledge ░░░░░░░░ everything from the wall ░░░░░░░░ not necessary all the ░░░░░░░░ to saying again these ░░░░░░░░ Republicans that pulled me ░░░░░░░░ having this conversation with ░░░░░░░░ Saying that crime is ░░░░░░░░ down in these communities ░░░░░░░░ so the rhetoric the ░░░░░░░░ rhetoric not to Mexicans ░░░░░░░░ Americans but to human ░░░░░░░░ is not contributing to ░░░░░░░░ situation not in any ░░░░░░░░ helping us be a ░░░░░░░░ I just came back ░░░░░░░░ Lebanon and from Turkey ░░░░░░░░ these countries that are ░░░░░░░░ with immigration problems where ░░░░░░░░ re seeing millions of ░░░░░░░░ pouring into their country ░░░░░░░░ is a situation we ░░░░░░░░ handle in America by ░░░░░░░░ our security and affirming ░░░░░░░░ values But this president ░░░░░░░░ to want to politicize ░░░░░░░░ seems to want to ░░░░░░░░ it a November campaign ░░░░░░░░ Seems to want to ░░░░░░░░ up fear and hey ░░░░░░░░ They have been telling ░░░░░░░░ how integrated the economies ░░░░░░░░ There s a much ░░░░░░░░ way to go about ░░░░░░░░ And deal with people ░░░░░░░░ are coming here often ░░░░░░░░ to situations that we ░░░░░░░░ some responsibility in One ░░░░░░░░ told me in a ░░░░░░░░ level position in the ░░░░░░░░ our demand for drugs ░░░░░░░░ have to take some ░░░░░░░░ for the crises going ░░░░░░░░ down there And step ░░░░░░░░ and figure out ways ░░░░░░░░ be a part of ░░░░░░░░ solution Whether it s ░░░░░░░░ to invest in those ░░░░░░░░ invest in their security ░░░░░░░░ again this is north ░░░░░░░░ We are all interrelated ░░░░░░░░ this story And all ░░░░░░░░ responsibilities one to another ░░░░░░░░ human beings And America ░░░░░░░░ stand for those values ░░░░░░░░ Do you buy their ░░░░░░░░ that these children will ░░░░░░░░ reunited with their families ░░░░░░░░ that everybody is registered ░░░░░░░░ you will and it ░░░░░░░░ possible and in fact ░░░░░░░░ working for parents to ░░░░░░░░ their kids BOOKER No ░░░░░░░░ mean this is the ░░░░░░░░ of the moral lows ░░░░░░░░ our country in the ░░░░░░░░ decade We have over ░░░░░░░░ 000 children that have ░░░░░░░░ separated from their families ░░░░░░░░ folks I m talking ░░░░░░░░ here on the ground ░░░░░░░░ advocates are telling me ░░░░░░░░ of people being deported ░░░░░░░░ to Guatemala Ecuador excuse ░░░░░░░░ Guatemala El Salvador Honduras ░░░░░░░░ their children with no ░░░░░░░░ in place no plan ░░░░░░░░ place to reunite them ░░░░░░░░ is a grievous assault ░░░░░░░░ the dignity and humanity ░░░░░░░░ others This is a ░░░░░░░░ of our values They ░░░░░░░░ no plan in place ░░░░░░░░ have no plan even ░░░░░░░░ identify the children who ░░░░░░░░ been separated And I ░░░░░░░░ this is a moral ░░░░░░░░ that s going on ░░░░░░░░ our nation And this ░░░░░░░░ administration should answer for ░░░░░░░░ they’ve done.”
