Rep. Al Green on Trump’s Sh*thole Comment: We Must Impeach, We Must #RepealandReplaceTrump

HOST Joining me now ░░░░░░░░ Congressman Al Green of ░░░░░░░░ Congressman welcome to you ░░░░░░░░ was your reaction to ░░░░░░░░ President Trump reportedly said ░░░░░░░░ African nations Haiti and ░░░░░░░░ countries GREEN Thank you ░░░░░░░░ having me and thank ░░░░░░░░ also to the MSNBC ░░░░░░░░ for the way you ░░░░░░░░ providing coverage on these ░░░░░░░░ issues My reaction was ░░░░░░░░ of understanding that we ░░░░░░░░ have work to do ░░░░░░░░ there is a necessity ░░░░░░░░ us to confront the ░░░░░░░░ about his bigoted statements ░░░░░░░░ his bigotry is being ░░░░░░░░ and translated into policy ░░░░░░░░ policy as it relates ░░░░░░░░ immigration is going to ░░░░░░░░ a race based policy ░░░░░░░░ he has his way ░░░░░░░░ I don t think ░░░░░░░░ can allow him to ░░░░░░░░ this His policies with ░░░░░░░░ to persons who are ░░░░░░░░ of the LGBTQ community ░░░░░░░░ in the military would ░░░░░░░░ based upon his bigotry ░░░░░░░░ he s already indicated ░░░░░░░░ he would have them ░░░░░░░░ from the military HOST ░░░░░░░░ GREEN I believe the ░░░░░░░░ has to be challenged ░░░░░░░░ the best way to ░░░░░░░░ him is to take ░░░░░░░░ to the floor of ░░░░░░░░ Congress of the United ░░░░░░░░ by way of impeachment ░░░░░░░░ Well so some House ░░░░░░░░ they are planning to ░░░░░░░░ a motion to censure ░░░░░░░░ president for his alleged ░░░░░░░░ On Friday after this ░░░░░░░░ tweeted Congressional condemnation of ░░░░░░░░ bigotry is not enough ░░░░░░░░ Congress talk is cheap ░░░░░░░░ s how we vote ░░░░░░░░ counts Next week I ░░░░░░░░ again bring a resolution ░░░░░░░░ impeach realDonaldTrump I will ░░░░░░░░ my vote where my ░░░░░░░░ is RepealandReplaceTrump So despite ░░░░░░░░ will you be supporting ░░░░░░░░ censure motion GREEN Two ░░░░░░░░ The statement that I ░░░░░░░░ out was tweeted I ░░░░░░░░ before censure was mentioned ░░░░░░░░ knew nothing of it ░░░░░░░░ the time I made ░░░░░░░░ tweet because there were ░░░░░░░░ persons condemning what was ░░░░░░░░ said and my point ░░░░░░░░ that condemnation verbal condemnation ░░░░░░░░ not enough Second point ░░░░░░░░ I will support censure ░░░░░░░░ think censure is an ░░░░░░░░ step but I do ░░░░░░░░ that the ultimate remedy ░░░░░░░░ impeachment This is what ░░░░░░░░ Hamilton proposed in Federalist ░░░░░░░░ and impeachment is not ░░░░░░░░ pleasant process I understand ░░░░░░░░ and it s not ░░░░░░░░ I want to do ░░░░░░░░ only do it because ░░░░░░░░ love my country and ░░░░░░░░ don t want to ░░░░░░░░ my country demeaned I ░░░░░░░░ t want to see ░░░░░░░░ presidency destroyed to a ░░░░░░░░ extent by a person ░░░░░░░░ has unfortunately brought his ░░░░░░░░ into the office and ░░░░░░░░ s now influencing policy ░░░░░░░░ So congressman you ve ░░░░░░░░ articles of impeachment before ░░░░░░░░ before it was tabled ░░░░░░░░ the time Why do ░░░░░░░░ think it s going ░░░░░░░░ make a difference this ░░░░░░░░ GREEN Well the tabling ░░░░░░░░ not an indication that ░░░░░░░░ can t do it ░░░░░░░░ The president s latest ░░░░░░░░ are reason for us ░░░░░░░░ revisit the issue Because ░░░░░░░░ introduced some other type ░░░░░░░░ motions or provisions that ░░░░░░░░ t mean that they ░░░░░░░░ t be tabled We ░░░░░░░░ what we think we ░░░░░░░░ to do and quite ░░░░░░░░ I m doing it ░░░░░░░░ it s the righteous ░░░░░░░░ to do When Dr ░░░░░░░░ went to jail and ░░░░░░░░ re celebrating his life ░░░░░░░░ legacy this week he ░░░░░░░░ t think when left ░░░░░░░░ jail he wouldn t ░░░░░░░░ invidious discrimination He didn ░░░░░░░░ think that it would ░░░░░░░░ after protest It s ░░░░░░░░ process When Rosa Parks ░░░░░░░░ that seat on the ░░░░░░░░ she didn t think ░░░░░░░░ would end discrimination that ░░░░░░░░ But she was a ░░░░░░░░ of a process HOST ░░░░░░░░ GREEN And this is ░░░░░░░░ process HOST All right ░░░░░░░░ Congressman Al Green thank ░░░░░░░░ so much for joining ░░░░░░░░ Very much appreciate it ░░░░░░░░ Thank you HOST We ░░░░░░░░ be right back, everybody.”
