Rep. Al Green: Republicans’ Racism Is Not Going to Change Democracy in the State of Texas

GREEN And here s ░░░░░░░░ we have to take ░░░░░░░░ stand Because one vote ░░░░░░░░ a difference One vote ░░░░░░░░ a difference It was ░░░░░░░░ vote that allowed them ░░░░░░░░ get the big ugly ░░░░░░░░ out of the House ░░░░░░░░ vote And it was ░░░░░░░░ vote in the Senate ░░░░░░░░ the vice president casting ░░░░░░░░ vote that allowed it ░░░░░░░░ get out of the ░░░░░░░░ and back to the ░░░░░░░░ Friends I regret to ░░░░░░░░ you that the 18th ░░░░░░░░ District was not represented ░░░░░░░░ that first vote took ░░░░░░░░ It was not If ░░░░░░░░ 18th had been represented ░░░░░░░░ d have to find ░░░░░░░░ one vote someplace else ░░░░░░░░ vote makes a difference ░░░░░░░░ in Texas they are ░░░░░░░░ to silence five Democratic ░░░░░░░░ in the Congress of ░░░░░░░░ United States of America ░░░░░░░░ have already made an ░░░░░░░░ to eliminate some of ░░░░░░░░ districts There are no ░░░░░░░░ going to be there ░░░░░░░░ no possibility of Democrats ░░░░░░░░ elected They are doing ░░░░░░░░ the president has insisted ░░░░░░░░ done And I want ░░░░░░░░ to know that we ░░░░░░░░ t introduce the race ░░░░░░░░ When this message was ░░░░░░░░ by and through the ░░░░░░░░ Department to the state ░░░░░░░░ Texas to our attorney ░░░░░░░░ they mentioned the race ░░░░░░░░ because they talked about ░░░░░░░░ gerrymandering They brought it ░░░░░░░░ and when they brought ░░░░░░░░ up they did it ░░░░░░░░ that this was a ░░░░░░░░ word It was a ░░░░░░░░ They knew that if ░░░░░░░░ could use the race ░░░░░░░░ in Texas where we ░░░░░░░░ white primaries and when ░░░░░░░░ Supreme Court said well ░░░░░░░░ can t do that ░░░░░░░░ we had white pre ░░░░░░░░ where we ve had ░░░░░░░░ sorts of obstacles to ░░░░░░░░ they knew that that ░░░░░░░░ a buzzword that people ░░░░░░░░ respond to in Texas ░░░░░░░░ we are going to ░░░░░░░░ to that buzzword by ░░░░░░░░ them that your racism ░░░░░░░░ not going to change ░░░░░░░░ in the state of ░░░░░░░░ is not going to ░░░░░░░░ it in the United ░░░░░░░░ of America Racism is ░░░░░░░░ to be met with ░░░░░░░░ taking a stand for ░░░░░░░░ You take a stand ░░░░░░░░ racism We will stand ░░░░░░░░ democracy and we will ░░░░░░░░ We will win Democracy ░░░░░░░░ going to win.”
