MADDOW You described this ░░░░░░░░ a war You said ░░░░░░░░ it on You ve ░░░░░░░░ about doing something extraordinary ░░░░░░░░ is potentially paving the ░░░░░░░░ for redistricting in New ░░░░░░░░ essentially to allow Democrats ░░░░░░░░ take seats that aren ░░░░░░░░ currently Democratic leaning seats ░░░░░░░░ way that Republicans are ░░░░░░░░ in Texas Tell me ░░░░░░░░ whether you think it ░░░░░░░░ going to get there ░░░░░░░░ whether you think if ░░░░░░░░ war is going to ░░░░░░░░ fought in those terms ░░░░░░░░ ends up winning HOCHUL ░░░░░░░░ if we refuse to ░░░░░░░░ for our democracy then ░░░░░░░░ re doomed to lose ░░░░░░░░ We don t want ░░░░░░░░ democracy lost And that ░░░░░░░░ why I am sick ░░░░░░░░ tired of fighting these ░░░░░░░░ with my hands tied ░░░░░░░░ my backs because we ░░░░░░░░ independent redistricting commission We ░░░░░░░░ good government ideas They ░░░░░░░░ fabulous But you know ░░░░░░░░ It puts us at ░░░░░░░░ political disadvantage to all ░░░░░░░░ Republican states who are ░░░░░░░░ to gerrymander at will ░░░░░░░░ look at the tip ░░░░░░░░ balance in the Congress ░░░░░░░░ and what the Republicans ░░░░░░░░ attempting to do under ░░░░░░░░ direction of Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ literally hijack five Democratic ░░░░░░░░ in Texas represented particularly ░░░░░░░░ minority communities they re ░░░░░░░░ to lose their voice ░░░░░░░░ the effect of that ░░░░░░░░ New York why I ░░░░░░░░ involved with this if ░░░░░░░░ stack it so it ░░░░░░░░ almost impossible for Hakeem ░░░░░░░░ to be speaker at ░░░░░░░░ time in the near ░░░░░░░░ certainly during the Trump ░░░░░░░░ then I have to ░░░░░░░░ with the onslaught of ░░░░░░░░ on my residents the ░░░░░░░░ of health care for ░░░░░░░░ children starving because they ░░░░░░░░ t have the SNAP ░░░░░░░░ and seeing the ICE ░░░░░░░░ with unfettered power walking ░░░░░░░░ our courthouses and our ░░░░░░░░ and our schools wearing ░░░░░░░░ and blaring guns There ░░░░░░░░ no way to stop ░░░░░░░░ if we don t ░░░░░░░░ a way to have ░░░░░░░░ checks and balance in ░░░░░░░░ because we do not ░░░░░░░░ it now And if ░░░░░░░░ don t stand up ░░░░░░░░ fight we will not ░░░░░░░░ it for the entirety ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump s tenure ░░░░░░░░ that is what is ░░░░░░░░ frightening to me You ░░░░░░░░ what I m a ░░░░░░░░ Yorker I m from ░░░░░░░░ Fighting is second nature ░░░░░░░░ us I m not ░░░░░░░░ of this That s ░░░░░░░░ I said bring it ░░░░░░░░ Because Texas bullies in ░░░░░░░░ are not going to ░░░░░░░░ us now or ever.”
