HURT So America s ░░░░░░░░ teachers union voting to ░░░░░░░░ ties with the Anti ░░░░░░░░ League over its ties ░░░░░░░░ Israel for four decades ░░░░░░░░ ADL has provided public ░░░░░░░░ material about the Holocaust ░░░░░░░░ anti Semitism but moving ░░░░░░░░ the NEA says it ░░░░░░░░ not use them At ░░░░░░░░ vote last week one ░░░░░░░░ delegate saying quote Allowing ░░░░░░░░ ADL to determine what ░░░░░░░░ anti Semitism would be ░░░░░░░░ allowing the fossil fuel ░░░░░░░░ to determine what constitutes ░░░░░░░░ change Joining us now ░░░░░░░░ respond Anti Defamation League ░░░░░░░░ Jonathan Greenblatt Sir great ░░░░░░░░ see you this morning ░░░░░░░░ first of all who ░░░░░░░░ these teachers that are ░░░░░░░░ the NEA who are ░░░░░░░░ for this GREENBLATT Yeah ░░░░░░░░ the NEA is the ░░░░░░░░ teachers union in the ░░░░░░░░ HURT Public school teachers ░░░░░░░░ Public school teachers And ░░░░░░░░ reality is it s ░░░░░░░░ organization that clearly has ░░░░░░░░ overtaken by activists You ░░░░░░░░ these individuals are there ░░░░░░░░ teach our children in ░░░░░░░░ classroom you know the ░░░░░░░░ of reading and writing ░░░░░░░░ arithmetic not radicalism But ░░░░░░░░ s exactly what s ░░░░░░░░ We ve seen an ░░░░░░░░ of anti Semitism in ░░░░░░░░ country Charlie right Anti ░░░░░░░░ acts of harassment vandalism ░░░░░░░░ violence have skyrocketed Last ░░░░░░░░ was the worst year ░░░░░░░░ ve ever tracked at ░░░░░░░░ And yet somehow these ░░░░░░░░ think the answer is ░░░░░░░░ isolate Jewish students to ░░░░░░░░ other Jewish educators and ░░░░░░░░ target the oldest organization ░░░░░░░░ the country fighting anti ░░░░░░░░ It s bewildering but ░░░░░░░░ s bigotry And that ░░░░░░░░ what we need to ░░░░░░░░ here HURT What do ░░░░░░░░ think is the real ░░░░░░░░ behind this GREENBLATT It ░░░░░░░░ again it s kind ░░░░░░░░ a radical agenda that ░░░░░░░░ individuals are trying to ░░░░░░░░ and indoctrinate our kids ░░░░░░░░ our education system Like ░░░░░░░░ the classroom with politics ░░░░░░░░ bad for kids it ░░░░░░░░ bad for our communities ░░░░░░░░ it s bad for ░░░░░░░░ country And now the ░░░░░░░░ is that these anti ░░░░░░░░ activists are quite insidious ░░░░░░░░ they see that the ░░░░░░░░ that we can capture ░░░░░░░░ culture is by going ░░░░░░░░ our children But could ░░░░░░░░ imagine telling the NAACP ░░░░░░░░ re not credible on ░░░░░░░░ HURT Right GREENBLATT Or ░░░░░░░░ National Constitution Center HURT ░░░░░░░░ GREENBLATT they can t ░░░░░░░░ the Constitution ADL s ░░░░░░░░ Charlie are the gold ░░░░░░░░ They re peer reviewed ░░░░░░░░ ve been doing it ░░░░░░░░ decades and we re ░░░░░░░░ about the Holocaust HURT ░░░░░░░░ Well I guess the ░░░░░░░░ Council on American Islamic ░░░░░░░░ that s a joke ░░░░░░░░ oh my God HURT ░░░░░░░░ NEA s move to ░░░░░░░░ ties with ADL saying ░░░░░░░░ we can get that ░░░░░░░░ here We welcome the ░░░░░░░░ s vote to stop ░░░░░░░░ public school students to ░░░░░░░░ materials provided by the ░░░░░░░░ due to its long ░░░░░░░░ of spreading anti Palestinian ░░░░░░░░ GREENBLATT It s bewildering ░░░░░░░░ see something like this ░░░░░░░░ from a group as ░░░░░░░░ as CAIR I mean ░░░░░░░░ it s an insult ░░░░░░░░ our intelligence HURT So ░░░░░░░░ think it s kind ░░░░░░░░ interesting that you re ░░░░░░░░ about grade school teachers ░░░░░░░░ GREENBLATT Yeah HURT in ░░░░░░░░ NEA GREENBLATT Yeah HURT ░░░░░░░░ then you see these ░░░░░░░░ on college campuses GREENBLATT ░░░░░░░░ HURT where you listen ░░░░░░░░ these kids and you ░░░░░░░░ like GREENBLATT Yeah HURT ░░░░░░░░ don t know where ░░░░░░░░ got this history It ░░░░░░░░ something about academia in ░░░░░░░░ where all of this ░░░░░░░░ to be metastasizing GREENBLATT ░░░░░░░░ s be honest So ░░░░░░░░ insert themselves again and ░░░░░░░░ to capture the culture ░░░░░░░░ it starts with education ░░░░░░░░ I ve got to ░░░░░░░░ you the ADL and ░░░░░░░░ of us we re ░░░░░░░░ going to allow their ░░░░░░░░ Semitism to intimidate us ░░░░░░░░ re not going to ░░░░░░░░ cowed from teaching about ░░░░░░░░ Holocaust We re going ░░░░░░░░ fight back And that ░░░░░░░░ recognizing we ve got ░░░░░░░░ not just push back ░░░░░░░░ the NEA here and ░░░░░░░░ union more broadly that ░░░░░░░░ a big problem with ░░░░░░░░ Charlie You had union ░░░░░░░░ on the ground at ░░░░░░░░ University HURT Right GREENBLATT ░░░░░░░░ the tents HURT Right ░░░░░░░░ in the encampments Look ░░░░░░░░ re going to use ░░░░░░░░ state legislatures because there ░░░░░░░░ plenty of elected officials ░░░░░░░░ realize how wrong this ░░░░░░░░ And I respect how ░░░░░░░░ Trump Administration and Secretary ░░░░░░░░ is leaning in as ░░░░░░░░ We need to engage ░░░░░░░░ make this an all ░░░░░░░░ on deck effort to ░░░░░░░░ anti Semitism including when ░░░░░░░░ comes out of the ░░░░░░░░ HURT Jonathan Greenblatt thank ░░░░░░░░ GREENBLATT: “Thank you.”
