BLITZER Having said all ░░░░░░░░ congressman we did some ░░░░░░░░ And I know you ░░░░░░░░ long said you re ░░░░░░░░ very concerned about the ░░░░░░░░ s national debt I ░░░░░░░░ to play some things ░░░░░░░░ ve said over the ░░░░░░░░ Listen to this and ░░░░░░░░ we ll get your ░░░░░░░░ Clip starts FLEISCHMANN We ░░░░░░░░ fix our debt crisis ░░░░░░░░ it s too late ░░░░░░░░ my commitment to you ░░░░░░░░ where I stand is ░░░░░░░░ work hard to get ░░░░░░░░ fiscal house in order ░░░░░░░░ What do you believe ░░░░░░░░ the number one threat ░░░░░░░░ the United States where ░░░░░░░░ and I sit today ░░░░░░░░ National debt Clip ends ░░░░░░░░ Congressman the latest estimate ░░░░░░░░ you know from the ░░░░░░░░ Congressional Budget Office says ░░░░░░░░ bill would increase the ░░░░░░░░ s national debt by ░░░░░░░░ than 3 trillion over ░░░░░░░░ next decade How do ░░░░░░░░ square your longtime support ░░░░░░░░ cutting the national debt ░░░░░░░░ this bill substantially adds ░░░░░░░░ it FLEISCHMANN Well I ░░░░░░░░ by those earlier comments ░░░░░░░░ said Gee whiz I ░░░░░░░░ that guy that you ░░░░░░░░ played The reality is ░░░░░░░░ that the drivers of ░░░░░░░░ national debt are not ░░░░░░░░ spending plans They are ░░░░░░░░ the mandatory spending programs ░░░░░░░░ the three the only ░░░░░░░░ that was really touched ░░░░░░░░ this bill was Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ ultimately I believe that ░░░░░░░░ we can grow the ░░░░░░░░ and these tax cuts ░░░░░░░░ it was Jack Kennedy ░░░░░░░░ it was Ronald Reagan ░░░░░░░░ now Donald Trump we ░░░░░░░░ a situation that if ░░░░░░░░ reduce taxes on corporations ░░░░░░░░ hardworking Americans on senior ░░░░░░░░ they will go out ░░░░░░░░ work harder And as ░░░░░░░░ aggregate we will actually ░░░░░░░░ more money come into ░░░░░░░░ Treasury I fundamentally believe ░░░░░░░░ then and now because ░░░░░░░░ believe it s the ░░░░░░░░ s money and not ░░░░░░░░ government s money But ░░░░░░░░ said that at some ░░░░░░░░ in time when we ░░░░░░░░ at what s on ░░░░░░░░ spending one of the ░░░░░░░░ things is actually interest ░░░░░░░░ the national debt These ░░░░░░░░ things that even as ░░░░░░░░ appropriator 75 of the ░░░░░░░░ budget is mandatory spending ░░░░░░░░ Social Security Medicare Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ on the national debt ░░░░░░░░ 85 of the Affordable ░░░░░░░░ Act and other programs ░░░░░░░░ automatically recur So am ░░░░░░░░ still concerned about the ░░░░░░░░ debt Yes When I ░░░░░░░░ to Congress it was ░░░░░░░░ trillion It s 36 ░░░░░░░░ now We still need ░░░░░░░░ do that But this ░░░░░░░░ so fundamentally changed so ░░░░░░░░ things for hardworking Americans ░░░░░░░░ do think we re ░░░░░░░░ to see growth we ░░░░░░░░ going to see prosperity ░░░░░░░░ we re going to ░░░░░░░░ border security so many ░░░░░░░░ things that we could ░░░░░░░░ have done singularly in ░░░░░░░░ just by the nature ░░░░░░░░ the numbers in the ░░░░░░░░ and the Senate and ░░░░░░░░ way that we have ░░░░░░░░ legislate right now in ░░░░░░░░ BLITZER But congressman this ░░░░░░░░ dramatically increases the national ░░░░░░░░ by the trillions over ░░░░░░░░ next 10 years You ░░░░░░░░ agree with me on ░░░░░░░░ FLEISCHMANN Well not necessarily ░░░░░░░░ we have the growth ░░░░░░░░ growth of revenue because ░░░░░░░░ reduced access remember in ░░░░░░░░ ethos reduced taxes on ░░░░░░░░ Americans will ultimately mean ░░░░░░░░ money for the Treasury ░░░░░░░░ people will be incentivized ░░░░░░░░ go out and work ░░░░░░░░ But until America and ░░░░░░░░ are not ready right ░░░░░░░░ whether it s Republicans ░░░░░░░░ or independents or in ░░░░░░░░ of the branches to ░░░░░░░░ the real drivers of ░░░░░░░░ debt which is mandatory ░░░░░░░░ we will not see ░░░░░░░░ type of abatement The ░░░░░░░░ people my age are ░░░░░░░░ on Social Security at ░░░░░░░░ 000 a day At ░░░░░░░░ point in time the ░░░░░░░░ boomers will age out ░░░░░░░░ we ll have a ░░░░░░░░ where younger people the ░░░░░░░░ will change But for ░░░░░░░░ now for the next ░░░░░░░░ or so we re ░░░░░░░░ to see increased deficits ░░░░░░░░ based on mandatory spending ░░░░░░░░ we re willing to ░░░░░░░░ some type of reforms ░░░░░░░░ that The political will ░░░░░░░░ not there It was ░░░░░░░░ it was not going ░░░░░░░░ be there in this ░░░░░░░░ If you heard my ░░░░░░░░ colleagues at first they ░░░░░░░░ screaming about Medicare It ░░░░░░░░ not touched It is ░░░░░░░░ It is going to ░░░░░░░░ safe for our seniors ░░░░░░░░ is not scare tactics ░░░░░░░░ reality Wolf is we ░░░░░░░░ going to grow this ░░░░░░░░ We re going to ░░░░░░░░ our country forward But ░░░░░░░░ do need to all ░░░░░░░░ together I think at ░░░░░░░░ point to get us ░░░░░░░░ a better place fiscally ░░░░░░░░ our long-term debt.”
