Mike Johnson: ‘I’m in Favor’ of a Ban on Stock Trading for Members of Congress

Johnson tell you my ░░░░░░░░ opinion on it I ░░░░░░░░ I m in favor ░░░░░░░░ that because I don ░░░░░░░░ think we should have ░░░░░░░░ appearance of impropriety here ░░░░░░░░ But the other side ░░░░░░░░ it some people say ░░░░░░░░ look you know the ░░░░░░░░ of Congress has been ░░░░░░░░ since 2009 You know ░░░░░░░░ you adjust for inflation ░░░░░░░░ member of Congress today ░░░░░░░░ making 31 percent less ░░░░░░░░ they made in that ░░░░░░░░ It goes down every ░░░░░░░░ And over time if ░░░░░░░░ stay on this trajectory ░░░░░░░░ re going to have ░░░░░░░░ qualified people who are ░░░░░░░░ to make the extreme ░░░░░░░░ to run for Congress ░░░░░░░░ mean it s just ░░░░░░░░ just make a reasonable ░░░░░░░░ as a family on ░░░░░░░░ or not they can ░░░░░░░░ and move to Washington ░░░░░░░░ a residence here residence ░░░░░░░░ home and do all ░░░░░░░░ things that are required ░░░░░░░░ the counter argument is ░░░░░░░░ I have some sympathy ░░░░░░░░ at least let them ░░░░░░░░ engage in some stock ░░░░░░░░ so that they can ░░░░░░░░ to you know take ░░░░░░░░ of their family But ░░░░░░░░ balance my view is ░░░░░░░░ probably should do that ░░░░░░░░ I think it s ░░░░░░░░ abused in the past ░░░░░░░░ I think sadly a ░░░░░░░░ bad actors discolor it ░░░░░░░░ everyone And look we ░░░░░░░░ no tolerance for anything ░░░░░░░░ resembling insider trading or ░░░░░░░░ of this kind of ░░░░░░░░ that anybody could take ░░░░░░░░ tolerance for it and ░░░░░░░░ ll stamp it out ░░░░░░░░ So that s why ░░░░░░░░ m in favor of ░░░░░░░░ policy but I understand ░░░░░░░░ that have misgivings about ░░░░░░░░ you know so we ░░░░░░░░ see where it lands.”
