NYT’s Brooks on Judge Dugan: It Strikes Me as Something Illegal, But It Also Strikes Me as Something Heroic

BROOKS Well obviously they ░░░░░░░░ trying to send a ░░░░░░░░ of intimidation not only ░░░░░░░░ her but to all ░░░░░░░░ and maybe to all ░░░░░░░░ But I I don ░░░░░░░░ I don t yet ░░░░░░░░ the specific details of ░░░░░░░░ case whether she escorted ░░░░░░░░ guy out the jury ░░░░░░░░ or whether she s ░░░░░░░░ him So that s ░░░░░░░░ murky I don t ░░░░░░░░ to comment on this ░░░░░░░░ case But especially on ░░░░░░░░ issue of immigration there ░░░░░░░░ a lot of people ░░░░░░░░ are appalled by what ░░░░░░░░ administration is doing And ░░░░░░░░ will be times for ░░░░░░░░ disobedience And to me ░░░░░░░░ she let s say ░░░░░░░░ did escort this guy ░░░░░░░░ the door If if ░░░░░░░░ enforcement agencies come to ░░░░░░░░ courtroom and you help ░░░░░░░░ guy escape that is ░░░░░░░░ things One it strikes ░░░░░░░░ as maybe something illegal ░░░░░░░░ it also strikes me ░░░░░░░░ something heroic And in ░░░░░░░░ of trouble then people ░░░░░░░░ sometimes called to do ░░░░░░░░ disobedience And in my ░░░░░░░░ when people do civil ░░░░░░░░ they they have to ░░░░░░░░ the price That s ░░░░░░░░ of the heroism of ░░░░░░░░ frankly And so you ░░░░░░░░ both think that she ░░░░░░░░ t have legally done ░░░░░░░░ and that morally protecting ░░░░░░░░ against maybe not even ░░░░░░░░ this case but in ░░░░░░░░ cases frankly a predatory ░░░░░░░░ agency.”
