Christina Greer on Abortion Attacks: Republicans Are Making it Easy as Possible to Make White Women Have ‘White Babies’

MENENDEZ This is what ░░░░░░░░ New York Times points ░░░░░░░░ Much of the movement ░░░░░░░░ built around promoting a ░░░░░░░░ specific idea of what ░░░░░░░░ a family one that ░░░░░░░░ marriage between a man ░░░░░░░░ a woman and leaves ░░░░░░░░ many families that don ░░░░░░░░ conform to traditional gender ░░░░░░░░ or family structures They ░░░░░░░░ reconstituting the American family ░░░░░░░░ Right And we have ░░░░░░░░ so hard to try ░░░░░░░░ become a more inclusive ░░░░░░░░ so that we know ░░░░░░░░ can support LGBTQ families ░░░░░░░░ have a blended family ░░░░░░░░ can support families that ░░░░░░░░ used IVF or adoption ░░░░░░░░ have we can support ░░░░░░░░ or men who choose ░░░░░░░░ go it alone and ░░░░░░░░ a family as a ░░░░░░░░ person So we know ░░░░░░░░ None of those things ░░░░░░░░ on the table But ░░░░░░░░ think we also have ░░░░░░░░ hit home the point ░░░░░░░░ administration and dare I ░░░░░░░░ the Republican Party writ ░░░░░░░░ does not tend to ░░░░░░░░ about children once they ░░░░░░░░ outside of the womb ░░░░░░░░ are obsessed with women ░░░░░░░░ wombs and they know ░░░░░░░░ little about menstrual cycles ░░░░░░░░ m it was surprising ░░░░░░░░ I know couldn t ░░░░░░░░ everyone actually sit in ░░░░░░░░ that class Maybe all ░░░░░░░░ of Congress could join ░░░░░░░░ GREER Can we have ░░░░░░░░ eighth grade public health ░░░░░░░░ I beg because most ░░░░░░░░ you know when you ░░░░░░░░ a six week abortion ░░░░░░░░ most women have no ░░░░░░░░ that they re even ░░░░░░░░ If they knew anything ░░░░░░░░ women s anatomy they ░░░░░░░░ know that And so ░░░░░░░░ s this lack of ░░░░░░░░ but a purposeful lack ░░░░░░░░ understanding for certain people ░░░░░░░░ this administration And others ░░░░░░░░ do know the harm ░░░░░░░░ they re causing and ░░░░░░░░ don t care And ░░░░░░░░ what s so frustrating ░░░░░░░░ dangerous about this moment ░░░░░░░░ it s couched in ░░░░░░░░ real conservative family values ░░░░░░░░ we know the overarching ░░░░░░░░ is this larger conservative ░░░░░░░░ of what a family ░░░░░░░░ like But also we ░░░░░░░░ t ignore the racial ░░░░░░░░ This has a long ░░░░░░░░ history in this country ░░░░░░░░ who should be the ░░░░░░░░ group We know that ░░░░░░░░ president has talked many ░░░░░░░░ about his good genes ░░░░░░░░ his eugenics and we ░░░░░░░░ that they want need ░░░░░░░░ white people in this ░░░░░░░░ This is what the ░░░░░░░░ deportations are about We ░░░░░░░░ that the way the ░░░░░░░░ are set up in ░░░░░░░░ country only white women ░░░░░░░░ make white men Only ░░░░░░░░ women can make white ░░░░░░░░ So if that s ░░░░░░░░ case you have to ░░░░░░░░ sure you defund abortion ░░░░░░░░ have to make sure ░░░░░░░░ make it illegal and ░░░░░░░░ You have to make ░░░░░░░░ that you make it ░░░░░░░░ easy as possible for ░░░░░░░░ women specifically to be ░░░░░░░░ to have children whether ░░░░░░░░ s IVF or whatever ░░░░░░░░ may be because the ░░░░░░░░ is to get them ░░░░░░░░ to 100 years ago ░░░░░░░░ white people are the ░░░░░░░░ group.”
