SORKIN Mr Secretary though ░░░░░░░░ us just understand this ░░░░░░░░ maybe it s a ░░░░░░░░ nuanced answer because there ░░░░░░░░ sort of a different ░░░░░░░░ parts to this So ░░░░░░░░ president said yesterday with ░░░░░░░░ quote that these tariffs ░░░░░░░░ be permanent tariffs and ░░░░░░░░ can also be negotiations ░░░░░░░░ also had Peter Navarro ░░░░░░░░ you as Becky mentioned ░░░░░░░░ you just talked about ░░░░░░░░ that the whole goal ░░░░░░░░ this is to bring ░░░░░░░░ back to the U ░░░░░░░░ And then there s ░░░░░░░░ the discussion of trying ░░░░░░░░ raise revenue as a ░░░░░░░░ of the tariffs All ░░░░░░░░ those different ideas to ░░░░░░░░ degree oddly enough are ░░░░░░░░ odds with each other ░░░░░░░░ if you re successful ░░░░░░░░ creating revenue from the ░░░░░░░░ you re not bringing ░░░░░░░░ back to America necessarily ░░░░░░░░ that could be an ░░░░░░░░ of what happens I ░░░░░░░░ trying to understand from ░░░░░░░░ perspective whether these really ░░░░░░░░ negotiations they re not ░░░░░░░░ what success at the ░░░░░░░░ of the day actually ░░░░░░░░ like BESSENT Well Andrew ░░░░░░░░ know a lot to ░░░░░░░░ there And you know ░░░░░░░░ s just go through ░░░░░░░░ piece by piece that ░░░░░░░░ you if we put ░░░░░░░░ a tariff wall the ░░░░░░░░ goal would be to ░░░░░░░░ jobs back to the ░░░░░░░░ S but in the ░░░░░░░░ we will be collecting ░░░░░░░░ tariffs As I ve ░░░░░░░░ I believe on this ░░░░░░░░ that if we re ░░░░░░░░ tariffs would be a ░░░░░░░░ ice cube in a ░░░░░░░░ because you re taking ░░░░░░░░ the revenues as the ░░░░░░░░ facilities are built in ░░░░░░░░ U S and there ░░░░░░░░ be some level of ░░░░░░░░ between the taxes we ░░░░░░░░ taking in with the ░░░░░░░░ industry from the payroll ░░░░░░░░ as the tariffs decline.”
