communicating over the ░░░░░░░░ several months and having ░░░░░░░░ conversation off line about ░░░░░░░░ identity What it means ░░░░░░░░ just to be an ░░░░░░░░ but to become an ░░░░░░░░ We took some time ░░░░░░░░ sit down together and ░░░░░░░░ to hash out American ░░░░░░░░ Great to see you ░░░░░░░░ thank you for doing ░░░░░░░░ we have been trying ░░░░░░░░ get together for quite ░░░░░░░░ time it worked out ░░░░░░░░ both of us we ░░░░░░░░ in New York I ░░░░░░░░ excited to sit down ░░░░░░░░ you Good to be ░░░░░░░░ Will why are you ░░░░░░░░ running for office of ░░░░░░░░ time Will president of ░░░░░░░░ United States governor of ░░░░░░░░ very accomplished very accomplished ░░░░░░░░ are you so driven ░░░░░░░░ serve in office I ░░░░░░░░ living the American dream ░░░░░░░░ something I m very ░░░░░░░░ for and them entering ░░░░░░░░ face of my life ░░░░░░░░ last few years after ░░░░░░░░ have had kids I ░░░░░░░░ to do something for ░░░░░░░░ country and pass onto ░░░░░░░░ kids and their generation ░░░░░░░░ felt like we were ░░░░░░░░ the middle of an ░░░░░░░░ crisis as a country ░░░░░░░░ reason I supported President ░░░░░░░░ when I exited the ░░░░░░░░ is he is now ░░░░░░░░ our conviction in America ░░░░░░░░ that is a great ░░░░░░░░ If he is successful ░░░░░░░░ I think he is ░░░░░░░░ to be successful that ░░░░░░░░ a lot of those ░░░░░░░░ in Washington D C ░░░░░░░░ education to health care ░░░░░░░░ a lot more than ░░░░░░░░ are getting kicked back ░░░░░░░░ to the states and ░░░░░░░░ people where they belong ░░░░░░░░ I do see a ░░░░░░░░ bit of a leadership ░░░░░░░░ there Both in my ░░░░░░░░ state and nationally Strong ░░░░░░░░ going to able to ░░░░░░░░ that ball and President ░░░░░░░░ throwing the past Somebody ░░░░░░░░ to catch it at ░░░░░░░░ state level to really ░░░░░░░░ onto the next phase ░░░░░░░░ civic a country I ░░░░░░░░ also when I ran ░░░░░░░░ president a lot of ░░░░░░░░ issues I was most ░░░░░░░░ about Catholic education reform ░░░░░░░░ the country for example ░░░░░░░░ was not going to ░░░░░░░░ even at the federal ░░░░░░░░ even by a U ░░░░░░░░ President It will have ░░░░░░░░ be driven by states ░░░░░░░░ our model of federalism ░░░░░░░░ America So when I ░░░░░░░░ myself in the mirror ░░░░░░░░ said how will I ░░░░░░░░ my business background my ░░░░░░░░ is closer to help ░░░░░░░░ the country and the ░░░░░░░░ possible way running for ░░░░░░░░ of Ohio was the ░░░░░░░░ natural step and I ░░░░░░░░ we will be successful ░░░░░░░░ hopefully turning the state ░░░░░░░░ to be a leading ░░░░░░░░ in the country Will ░░░░░░░░ want to talk to ░░░░░░░░ about the identity of ░░░░░░░░ If you ask me ░░░░░░░░ Texas I could very ░░░░░░░░ defined the identity of ░░░░░░░░ it means to be ░░░░░░░░ texan In a lot ░░░░░░░░ ways I think it ░░░░░░░░ the undistilled version of ░░░░░░░░ it is to be ░░░░░░░░ American high risk tolerance ░░░░░░░░ wild cutting boating empires ░░░░░░░░ does that mean What ░░░░░░░░ the identity of somebody ░░░░░░░░ Ohio The character of ░░░░░░░░ at our court is ░░░░░░░░ combination of two attributes ░░░░░░░░ would say it is ░░░░░░░░ combination of humility and ░░░░░░░░ Those two things usually ░░░░░░░░ t go together You ░░░░░░░░ of those things as ░░░░░░░░ contention with one another ░░░░░░░░ is Ohio at our ░░░░░░░░ You look at our ░░░░░░░░ look at the state ░░░░░░░░ Neil Armstrong John Glenn ░░░░░░░░ state of great astronauts ░░░░░░░░ went to the other ░░░░░░░░ of outer space In ░░░░░░░░ ways I think in ░░░░░░░░ that overlap with Texas ░░░░░░░░ the heart of what ░░░░░░░░ is at our best ░░░░░░░░ combination of humility groundedness ░░░░░░░░ individuals while still being ░░░░░░░░ in what we can ░░░░░░░░ I m not saying ░░░░░░░░ is exactly Ohio right ░░░░░░░░ but that is our ░░░░░░░░ and their heritage of ░░░░░░░░ we have been and ░░░░░░░░ is where I want ░░░░░░░░ lead us back to ░░░░░░░░ a state Will do ░░░░░░░░ think you know you ░░░░░░░░ certainly been somebody that ░░░░░░░░ think most Americans can ░░░░░░░░ to as a living ░░░░░░░░ the modern American dream ░░░░░░░░ are a child of ░░░░░░░░ you grew up in ░░░░░░░░ middle class you went ░░░░░░░░ Ivy League colleges you ░░░░░░░░ incredibly accomplished you are ░░░░░░░░ and wealthy What about ░░░░░░░░ background and your life ░░░░░░░░ and your identity what ░░░░░░░░ that puts you in ░░░░░░░░ with what you describe ░░░░░░░░ me about Ohio The ░░░░░░░░ you just mentioned about ░░░░░░░░ is there is a ░░░░░░░░ range of perspectives and ░░░░░░░░ across the state A ░░░░░░░░ think more so then ░░░░░░░░ successful states In some ░░░░░░░░ I have had a ░░░░░░░░ of experiences in my ░░░░░░░░ life as well My ░░░░░░░░ came to this country ░░░░░░░░ nothing and ended up ░░░░░░░░ Cincinnati Ohio My dad ░░░░░░░░ layoffs at the g ░░░░░░░░ Plant and now that ░░░░░░░░ expanding Back under the ░░░░░░░░ in the 90s hundred ░░░░░░░░ welch s tenure there ░░░░░░░░ a lot of layoffs ░░░░░░░░ the plant for my ░░░░░░░░ worked I went to ░░░░░░░░ schools I went to ░░░░░░░░ jesuit high school the ░░░░░░░░ hindu student at that ░░░░░░░░ school for high school ░░░░░░░░ high school Then it ░░░░░░░░ to Harvard for college ░░░░░░░░ then yell for law ░░░░░░░░ and then I found ░░░░░░░░ successful businesses in places ░░░░░░░░ New York City and ░░░░░░░░ back in to the ░░░░░░░░ So I had that ░░░░░░░░ arc of the American ░░░░░░░░ In some ways that ░░░░░░░░ exactly Ohio at its ░░░░░░░░ is their first at ░░░░░░░░ stage of the way ░░░░░░░░ I want to relate ░░░░░░░░ every American and every ░░░░░░░░ when understanding I had ░░░░░░░░ great path that I ░░░░░░░░ proud of I don ░░░░░░░░ apologize for it I ░░░░░░░░ capitalism is the greatest ░░░░░░░░ known to man to ░░░░░░░░ us up from poverty ░░░░░░░░ I also recognize that ░░░░░░░░ path can t be ░░░░░░░░ only path either What ░░░░░░░░ want to do in ░░░░░░░░ is he brought the ░░░░░░░░ of the American dream ░░░░░░░░ is funny we don ░░░░░░░░ talk about that even ░░░░░░░░ America as much anymore ░░░░░░░░ we should To me ░░░░░░░░ American dream is not ░░░░░░░░ about the pieces of ░░░░░░░░ that can be a ░░░░░░░░ effect of it That ░░░░░░░░ about reviving conviction in ░░░░░░░░ purpose it is about ░░░░░░░░ country where every kid ░░░░░░░░ be a hero We ░░░░░░░░ all mortal we are ░░░░░░░░ here for a short ░░░░░░░░ of time I think ░░░░░░░░ have a unique human ░░░░░░░░ all of us to ░░░░░░░░ watching us everybody wants ░░░░░░░░ be a hero in ░░░░░░░░ own life and that ░░░░░░░░ be as president it ░░░░░░░░ be as governor it ░░░░░░░░ be as CEO it ░░░░░░░░ be as a nurse ░░░░░░░░ can be as a ░░░░░░░░ officer volunteer it can ░░░░░░░░ as a father a ░░░░░░░░ wife But what America ░░░░░░░░ our best s we ░░░░░░░░ that structure that scaffold ░░░░░░░░ every kid to grow ░░░░░░░░ to be the hero ░░░░░░░░ they want to be ░░░░░░░░ embrace all of those ░░░░░░░░ is equally good equally ░░░░░░░░ regarded and honorable as ░░░░░░░░ other I think Ohio ░░░░░░░░ some ways its a ░░░░░░░░ that is best positioned ░░░░░░░░ be the epicenter of ░░░░░░░░ that version of the ░░░░░░░░ dream Not just the ░░░░░░░░ centered on green pieces ░░░░░░░░ paper Will for about ░░░░░░░░ months Vivek and I ░░░░░░░░
