CORNISH You ve said ░░░░░░░░ this is a difficulty ░░░░░░░░ Republicans What do you ░░░░░░░░ that Democrats should be ░░░░░░░░ When you were talking ░░░░░░░░ covering 95 and 96 ░░░░░░░░ do you think about ░░░░░░░░ potential strategy BROWNSTEIN Well ░░░░░░░░ actually think this is ░░░░░░░░ cornerstone of their strategy ░░░░░░░░ 2025 If you talk ░░░░░░░░ Democrats you know they ░░░░░░░░ they are in a ░░░░░░░░ I mean this the ░░░░░░░░ of the party is ░░░░░░░░ in a weaker position ░░░░░░░░ at any point since ░░░░░░░░ think the 1980s the ░░░░░░░░ and George H W ░░░░░░░░ era But if you ░░░░░░░░ Democrats how they think ░░░░░░░░ are going to come ░░░░░░░░ you know there is ░░░░░░░░ debate about you know ░░░░░░░░ the party do you ░░░░░░░░ on every front or ░░░░░░░░ you focus on the ░░░░░░░░ issues And I think ░░░░░░░░ Democrats believe their best ░░░░░░░░ of kind of getting ░░░░░░░░ second look from the ░░░░░░░░ in 2025 is this ░░░░░░░░ over the budget You ░░░░░░░░ this is the first ░░░░░░░░ since that 1995 96 ░░░░░░░░ when Republicans are explicitly ░░░░░░░░ two things together in ░░░░░░░░ same budget plans tax ░░░░░░░░ that are aimed primarily ░░░░░░░░ the rich and cuts ░░░░░░░░ programs in health care ░░░░░░░░ particularly Medicaid that benefit ░░░░░░░░ middle and working class ░░░░░░░░ mean if you look ░░░░░░░░ their tax cuts since ░░░░░░░░ they ve been sugar ░░░░░░░░ They ve kept the ░░░░░░░░ far away from it ░░░░░░░░ here Democrats I think ░░░░░░░░ they can make the ░░░░░░░░ linkage because the budget ░░░░░░░░ make the explicit linkage ░░░░░░░░ the argument that Republicans ░░░░░░░░ be cutting Medicaid to ░░░░░░░░ tax cuts for the ░░░░░░░░ And I think if ░░░░░░░░ ask them as I ░░░░░░░░ how they think they ░░░░░░░░ going to come back ░░░░░░░░ are probably putting more ░░░░░░░░ on that on that ░░░░░░░░ than anything else.”
