David Jolly: ‘Republicans Haven’t Paid for Tax Cuts for Decades’

Reid It always comes ░░░░░░░░ to tax cuts David ░░░░░░░░ I mean you were ░░░░░░░░ Congress I mean but ░░░░░░░░ thing is is that ░░░░░░░░ you just say to ░░░░░░░░ We re going to ░░░░░░░░ really rich people s ░░░░░░░░ and we re going ░░░░░░░░ make you pay for ░░░░░░░░ by cutting your Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ go Oh no I ░░░░░░░░ t want that So ░░░░░░░░ you say DOGE is ░░░░░░░░ to magically find all ░░░░░░░░ waste fraud and they ░░░░░░░░ after stuff that is ░░░░░░░░ for people to demonize ░░░░░░░░ aid like people think ░░░░░░░░ aid is like you ░░░░░░░░ hundreds of billions or ░░░░░░░░ they think it s ░░░░░░░░ this money when it ░░░░░░░░ really a tiny bit ░░░░░░░░ money but you say ░░░░░░░░ foreigners aren t going ░░░░░░░░ get the money Here ░░░░░░░░ one of the things ░░░░░░░░ Trump just did a ░░░░░░░░ EO Stop federally funding ░░░░░░░░ for unaccompanied migrant children ░░░░░░░░ you really think that ░░░░░░░░ re spending so much ░░░░░░░░ providing legal assurance to ░░░░░░░░ migrant kids that if ░░░░░░░░ just get rid of ░░░░░░░░ suddenly the tax cuts ░░░░░░░░ paid for They re ░░░░░░░░ But what the way ░░░░░░░░ re being paid is ░░░░░░░░ you go through all ░░░░░░░░ these people who are ░░░░░░░░ U S aid money ░░░░░░░░ has the most farms ░░░░░░░░ But you know who ░░░░░░░░ second North Carolina You ░░░░░░░░ who s third Indiana ░░░░░░░░ s then New York ░░░░░░░░ then you know who ░░░░░░░░ next Florida then Minnesota ░░░░░░░░ s going to be ░░░░░░░░ in red states that ░░░░░░░░ going to pay for ░░░░░░░░ tax cut And that ░░░░░░░░ what they never want ░░░░░░░░ tell you JOLLY Yeah ░░░░░░░░ I love having this ░░░░░░░░ with you and Michael ░░░░░░░░ now because we all ░░░░░░░░ to spit some truth ░░░░░░░░ mean I lived in ░░░░░░░░ Belly of the beast ░░░░░░░░ Republican tax cuts in ░░░░░░░░ and so forth And ░░░░░░░░ ll tell you a ░░░░░░░░ I was a co ░░░░░░░░ of many of those ░░░░░░░░ cuts And I remember ░░░░░░░░ was an estate tax ░░░░░░░░ or a death tax ░░░░░░░░ Republicans call it that ░░░░░░░░ was a co sponsor ░░░░░░░░ it lived out there ░░░░░░░░ about a year and ░░░░░░░░ of a sudden when ░░░░░░░░ brought it up on ░░░░░░░░ House floor it passes ░░░░░░░░ I go to leadership ░░░░░░░░ say Okay now how ░░░░░░░░ we going to pay ░░░░░░░░ it And a member ░░░░░░░░ leadership looks at me ░░░░░░░░ says Oh we don ░░░░░░░░ pay for tax cuts ░░░░░░░░ haven t paid for ░░░░░░░░ cuts for decades And ░░░░░░░░ s the other truth ░░░░░░░░ is really critically important ░░░░░░░░ all of this branding ░░░░░░░░ Trump and his DOGEs ░░░░░░░░ doing about federal spending ░░░░░░░░ nothing absolutely nothing that ░░░░░░░░ is doing right now ░░░░░░░░ ever come close to ░░░░░░░░ for the tax cuts ░░░░░░░░ Correct JOLLY Less than ░░░░░░░░ of the federal budget ░░░░░░░░ federal employees about 1 ░░░░░░░░ So let s say ░░░░░░░░ cut 10 of the ░░░░░░░░ workforce That is less ░░░░░░░░ 2 10 of 1 ░░░░░░░░ the federal budget That ░░░░░░░░ not paying for 4 ░░░░░░░░ trillion of tax cuts ░░░░░░░░ secondly even if you ░░░░░░░░ after the programs 70 ░░░░░░░░ our budget is mandatory ░░░░░░░░ Social Security Medicare Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ on the debt 30 ░░░░░░░░ what DOGE can look ░░░░░░░░ Well half of that ░░░░░░░░ defense which are not ░░░░░░░░ cared about So now ░░░░░░░░ of the federal budget ░░░░░░░░ services domestic services to ░░░░░░░░ is what they want ░░░░░░░░ target And all they ░░░░░░░░ doing is causing unnecessary ░░░░░░░░ and disruption and chaos ░░░░░░░░ suspension of services for ░░░░░░░░ None of this will ░░░░░░░░ pay for Republican tax ░░░░░░░░ but they don t ░░░░░░░░ They don t want ░░░░░░░░ to And the scariest ░░░░░░░░ is this Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ a lame duck who ░░░░░░░░ not going to be ░░░░░░░░ the ballot again so ░░░░░░░░ doesn t actually care ░░░░░░░░ people get ticked off ░░░░░░░░ him Now there s ░░░░░░░░ about other Republicans going ░░░░░░░░ with it why But ░░░░░░░░ now they re exerting ░░░░░░░░ ton of pain on ░░░░░░░░ American people for zero ░░░░░░░░ return Reid Right I ░░░░░░░░ and the thing that ░░░░░░░░ been so wild Michael ░░░░░░░░ watching Republican members sort ░░░░░░░░ meekly say Hey maybe ░░░░░░░░ don t cut my ░░░░░░░░ money.’”
