playing nice at least ░░░░░░░░ now And her response ░░░░░░░░ the nomination of Linda ░░░░░░░░ Weingarten writing in part ░░░░░░░░ ll try to work ░░░░░░░░ anyone who puts the ░░░░░░░░ of our students families ░░░░░░░░ communities first Sounding even ░░░░░░░░ optimistic on MSNBC earlier ░░░░░░░░ week I am taking ░░░░░░░░ reserve judgment Wait and ░░░░░░░░ attitude I mean clearly ░░░░░░░░ mean she wanted to ░░░░░░░░ a teacher once and ░░░░░░░░ was on the Connecticut ░░░░░░░░ of education for a ░░░░░░░░ My members don t ░░░░░░░░ care about whether they ░░░░░░░░ a bureaucracy of the ░░░░░░░░ of Education or not ░░░░░░░░ fact al shanker and ░░░░░░░░ aft in the 1970s ░░░░░░░░ opposed to its creation ░░░░░░░░ thought it should stay ░░░░░░░░ h E w because ░░░░░░░░ the whole chil Health ░░░░░░░░ and welfare It got ░░░░░░░░ off and became its ░░░░░░░░ department under Carter of ░░░░░░░░ and Betsy DeVos ran ░░░░░░░░ Department of Education under ░░░░░░░░ Trump And she joins ░░░░░░░░ now And madam secretary ░░░░░░░░ s good to see ░░░░░░░░ again to talk about ░░░░░░░░ you think that this ░░░░░░░░ a was that a ░░░░░░░░ response from Randi Weingarten ░░░░░░░░ she really believe what ░░░░░░░░ just said that she ░░░░░░░░ not concerned Well I ░░░░░░░░ t know if she ░░░░░░░░ meant it but I ░░░░░░░░ guarantee you that she ░░░░░░░░ right Teachers don t ░░░░░░░░ to have the bureaucracy ░░░░░░░░ the Department of Education ░░░░░░░░ don t the key ░░░░░░░░ that she does And ░░░░░░░░ wants to have that ░░░░░░░░ consolidated She mentioned h ░░░░░░░░ w the former agency ░░░░░░░░ housed education in before ░░░░░░░░ Because she wants to ░░░░░░░░ power from cradle to ░░░░░░░░ over everything to do ░░░░░░░░ education But the right ░░░░░░░░ for teachers is to ░░░░░░░░ have that bureaucracy in ░░░░░░░░ D C all the ░░░░░░░░ attached to states and ░░░░░░░░ districts You know they ░░░░░░░░ said that that they ░░░░░░░░ against the idea of ░░░░░░░░ the money that is ░░░░░░░░ the federal government right ░░░░░░░░ And sending it back ░░░░░░░░ the states So Randi ░░░░░░░░ doesn t like that ░░░░░░░░ it makes me wonder ░░░░░░░░ there s a lot ░░░░░░░░ states in this country ░░░░░░░░ don t respect unions ░░░░░░░░ way that others do ░░░░░░░░ know there s right ░░░░░░░░ work states and then ░░░░░░░░ s other states that ░░░░░░░░ t and I just ░░░░░░░░ does she think that ░░░░░░░░ are conservative states in ░░░░░░░░ country that will not ░░░░░░░░ their union and might ░░░░░░░░ their union some trouble ░░░░░░░░ remember that when the ░░░░░░░░ of Education was formed ░░░░░░░░ was to consolidate the ░░░░░░░░ at the federal level ░░░░░░░░ give the unions and ░░░░░░░░ whole system a voice ░░░░░░░░ central voice through which ░░░░░░░░ operate and to wield ░░░░░░░░ And the sad thing ░░░░░░░░ that children have suffered ░░░░░░░░ decades now They have ░░░░░░░░ and we ve seen ░░░░░░░░ even more keenly the ░░░░░░░░ few years in the ░░░░░░░░ they overstepped everything every ░░░░░░░░ every you know every ░░░░░░░░ of the way through ░░░░░░░░ And so this is ░░░░░░░░ ideal time to be ░░░░░░░░ how to best support ░░░░░░░░ and kids and the ░░░░░░░░ way to do that ░░░░░░░░ to get those dollars ░░░░░░░░ to the families ideally ░░░░░░░░ them in the figurative ░░░░░░░░ to each child That ░░░░░░░░ especially in need of ░░░░░░░░ We re talking about ░░░░░░░░ disbanding the budget but ░░░░░░░░ bureaucracy in Washington D ░░░░░░░░ wonder if any part ░░░░░░░░ this agenda that they ░░░░░░░░ about to set in ░░░░░░░░ what Linda McMahon is ░░░░░░░░ to do is going ░░░░░░░░ be going after these ░░░░░░░░ that I think a ░░░░░░░░ of parents have been ░░░░░░░░ turned off I mean ░░░░░░░░ saw what they did ░░░░░░░░ Covid and that was ░░░░░░░░ real big red flag ░░░░░░░░ ve seen what they ░░░░░░░░ done I mean they ░░░░░░░░ so hard against charter ░░░░░░░░ which have been so ░░░░░░░░ for kids that are ░░░░░░░░ but are just lost ░░░░░░░░ these terrible inner city ░░░░░░░░ that they have that ░░░░░░░░ been as you said ░░░░░░░░ been failing for the ░░░░░░░░ 45 years If not ░░░░░░░░ Do you think there ░░░░░░░░ any part of this ░░░░░░░░ that mcmahon is going ░░░░░░░░ be able to get ░░░░░░░░ that is going to ░░░░░░░░ rein in some of ░░░░░░░░ power of these unions ░░░░░░░░ they going to go ░░░░░░░░ them in any kind ░░░░░░░░ way Should they Well ░░░░░░░░ best way to rein ░░░░░░░░ the power of the ░░░░░░░░ is to give more ░░░░░░░░ to the families that ░░░░░░░░ have the greatest vested ░░░░░░░░ in each child And ░░░░░░░░ do that through policies ░░░░░░░░ support education freedom and ░░░░░░░░ and also through divesting ░░░░░░░░ block granting from the ░░░░░░░░ level Whatever Congress appropriates ░░░░░░░░ a child s education ░░░░░░░░ of sending it to ░░░░░░░░ bureaucracy in Washington that ░░░░░░░░ all kinds of strings ░░░░░░░░ it when it ultimately ░░░░░░░░ to a state or ░░░░░░░░ local district and also ░░░░░░░░ up a lot of ░░░░░░░░ money in Washington to ░░░░░░░░ the bureaucracy and to ░░░░░░░░ all of these all ░░░░░░░░ these alphabet soup of ░░░░░░░░ that somehow have their ░░░░░░░░ into the pot The ░░░░░░░░ way to combat that ░░░░░░░░ to really get the ░░░░░░░░ s closest to the ░░░░░░░░ And ideally supporting the ░░░░░░░░ especially low income families ░░░░░░░░ have struggled the most ░░░░░░░░ their children getting a ░░░░░░░░ education and parents with ░░░░░░░░ with disabilities and special ░░░░░░░░ Those are two areas ░░░░░░░░ there s federal law ░░░░░░░░ but that can be ░░░░░░░░ in a much different ░░░░░░░░ than giving that power ░░░░░░░░ the bureaucracy in d ░░░░░░░░ which is effectively controlled ░░░░░░░░ the teacher unions the ░░░░░░░░ unions we should say ░░░░░░░░ all of the attending ░░░░░░░░ It s a it ░░░░░░░░ a failing organization Very ░░░░░░░░ to see how it ░░░░░░░░ And what can be ░░░░░░░░ because there s so ░░░░░░░░ potential and it s ░░░░░░░░ disappointing to see how ░░░░░░░░ it has gotten over ░░░░░░░░ last as
