Zachary Levi: Gavin Newsom Could Be ‘Criminally Negligent,’ Some of the Worst Fires in California Are Under His Watch

WATTERS All right Zach ░░░░░░░░ is going on out ░░░░░░░░ LEVI Hey how are ░░░░░░░░ doing there Listen you ░░░░░░░░ I don t I ░░░░░░░░ t I wish I ░░░░░░░░ explain it I think ░░░░░░░░ first thing I wanted ░░░░░░░░ say though most importantly ░░░░░░░░ think we should be ░░░░░░░░ every single person in ░░░░░░░░ California everybody affected by ░░░░░░░░ fires we should be ░░░░░░░░ them in prayer sending ░░░░░░░░ as much love and ░░░░░░░░ and support as we ░░░░░░░░ to everybody who is ░░░░░░░░ affected right now This ░░░░░░░░ most devastating fire in ░░░░░░░░ Angeles history My family ░░░░░░░░ from Ventura California I ░░░░░░░░ up there most my ░░░░░░░░ and then I was ░░░░░░░░ L A for 15 ░░░░░░░░ this is very personal ░░░░░░░░ Thomas fire ravaged Ventura ░░░░░░░░ 2017 and it was ░░░░░░░░ gnarly and they re ░░░░░░░░ picking up the pieces ░░░░░░░░ that fire So this ░░░░░░░░ just it is catastrophic ░░░░░░░░ at the news I ░░░░░░░░ in Austin Texas and ░░░░░░░░ m watching the news ░░░░░░░░ looks like I m ░░░░░░░░ a post apocalyptic war ░░░░░░░░ it s so sad ░░░░░░░░ ultimately why we have ░░░░░░░░ up in this place ░░░░░░░░ mean I have been ░░░░░░░░ you on your show ░░░░░░░░ into the segment I ░░░░░░░░ I think you are ░░░░░░░░ a lot of it ░░░░░░░░ the head This is ░░░░░░░░ incredible mismanagement incredibly poor ░░░░░░░░ I would go so ░░░░░░░░ as to say that ░░░░░░░░ s criminally negligent because ░░░░░░░░ mean Gavin Newsom has ░░░░░░░░ either the governor for ░░░░░░░░ years or lieutenant governor ░░░░░░░░ to that for eight ░░░░░░░░ nine years Some of ░░░░░░░░ worst fire as we ░░░░░░░░ ever had in California ░░░░░░░░ that watch He clearly ░░░░░░░░ that the biggest problem ░░░░░░░░ we suffer in California ░░░░░░░░ these fires and by ░░░░░░░░ way the mudslides that ░░░░░░░░ And for them to ░░░░░░░░ essentially not just nothing ░░░░░░░░ worse than nothing when ░░░░░░░░ budgets are being cut ░░░░░░░░ they are specifically intentionally ░░░░░░░░ doing the work that ░░░░░░░░ be done to avoid ░░░░░░░░ problems or to be ░░░░░░░░ to effectively serve them ░░░░░░░░ they are happening we ░░░░░░░░ losing I mean I ░░░░░░░░ it s something like ░░░░░░░░ of acres of feet ░░░░░░░░ water runoff from rain ░░░░░░░░ snow every year in ░░░░░░░░ As you pointed out ░░░░░░░░ think the smelt have ░░░░░░░░ to do with that ░░░░░░░░ s an acre foot ░░░░░░░░ water by the way ░░░░░░░░ about 330 000 gallons ░░░░░░░░ water And there is ░░░░░░░░ of those that are ░░░░░░░░ rolling off into the ░░░░░░░░ when they could be ░░░░░░░░ in cisterns We could ░░░░░░░░ an ecosystem of hoses ░░░░░░░░ safety measures that can ░░░░░░░░ all of these homes ░░░░░░░░ people in these homes ░░░░░░░░ and for some reason ░░░░░░░░ choose to do None ░░░░░░░░ that And at some ░░░░░░░░ it goes beyond just ░░░░░░░░ At some point it ░░░░░░░░ beyond negligence There is ░░░░░░░░ that s almost criminally ░░░░░░░░ about this What are ░░░░░░░░ doing I don t ░░░░░░░░ WATTERS You mention criminal ░░░░░░░░ and you mention criminal ░░░░░░░░ Because California can build ░░░░░░░░ I mean look at ░░░░░░░░ Valley look at Hollywood ░░░░░░░░ they want to do ░░░░░░░░ California can do it ░░░░░░░░ you haven t built ░░░░░░░░ single reservoir in 10 ░░░░░░░░ You re just letting ░░░░░░░░ run into the Pacific ░░░░░░░░ of what a fish ░░░░░░░░ no one has heard ░░░░░░░░ Does anybody care about ░░░░░░░░ smelt fish LEVI I ░░░░░░░░ listen I think that ░░░░░░░░ can be true I ░░░░░░░░ we can care about ░░░░░░░░ smelt fish and we ░░░░░░░░ care about our environment ░░░░░░░░ also be able to ░░░░░░░░ human life and the ░░░░░░░░ cities and civilizations that ░░░░░░░░ have built and find ░░░░░░░░ kind of balance in ░░░░░░░░ of that Even still ░░░░░░░░ the smelt there s ░░░░░░░░ reason why we couldn ░░░░░░░░ have safeguards to prevent ░░░░░░░░ is going on right ░░░░░░░░ This is just it ░░░░░░░░ absurd But I would ░░░░░░░░ at the end of ░░░░░░░░ day like I said ░░░░░░░░ don t know if ░░░░░░░░ is criminal intent I ░░░░░░░░ no idea why they ░░░░░░░░ doing or not doing ░░░░░░░░ things that they are ░░░░░░░░ But they must be ░░░░░░░░ responsible This is not ░░░░░░░░ leadership And listen this ░░░░░░░░ the man who in ░░░░░░░░ middle of the pandemic ░░░░░░░░ people were being locked ░░░░░░░░ for going to gathering ░░░░░░░░ he was at French ░░░░░░░░ having dinner with his ░░░░░░░░ What does that say ░░░░░░░░ the character of this ░░░░░░░░ who s doing nothing ░░░░░░░░ help the people of ░░░░░░░░ I don t believe ░░░░░░░░ he is I don ░░░░░░░░ believe that he is ░░░░░░░░ I think that there ░░░░░░░░ to be some kind ░░░░░░░░ accountability that is held ░░░░░░░░ the leadership not just ░░░░░░░░ California but also of ░░░░░░░░ nation I mean listen ░░░░░░░░ are still people in ░░░░░░░░ North Carolina that are ░░░░░░░░ climbing out of the ░░░░░░░░ of the hurricane that ░░░░░░░░ ravaged all of them ░░░░░░░░ Florida and North Carolina ░░░░░░░░ South Carolina That is ░░░░░░░░ happening and FEMA are ░░░░░░░░ dropping the ball there ░░░░░░░░ s going to happen ░░░░░░░░ with southern California Is ░░░░░░░░ going to be there ░░░░░░░░ the way one of ░░░░░░░░ things that is almost ░░░░░░░░ criminal in all of ░░░░░░░░ I don t know ░░░░░░░░ you know this but ░░░░░░░░ or so of the ░░░░░░░░ in southern California that ░░░░░░░░ to have fire insurance ░░░░░░░░ their home months ago ░░░░░░░░ insurance was taken away ░░░░░░░░ insurance company said No ░░░░░░░░ are not going to ░░░░░░░░ fire insurance anymore They ░░░░░░░░ t need flood insurance ░░░░░░░░ need fire insurance This ░░░░░░░░ a fire hazard of ░░░░░░░░ that s the insurance ░░░░░░░░ they need and want ░░░░░░░░ just months ago this ░░░░░░░░ stripped from people Like ░░░░░░░░ is not okay It ░░░░░░░░ not okay in any ░░░░░░░░ shape or form WATTERS ░░░░░░░░ I m hearing that ░░░░░░░░ Farm yanked their coverage ░░░░░░░░ regulators in California would ░░░░░░░░ let them raise rates ░░░░░░░░ now millions of people ░░░░░░░░ not have fire insurance ░░░░░░░░ they have lost their ░░░░░░░░ and have nothing And ░░░░░░░░ are right You mentioned ░░░░░░░░ Carolina Remember the Maui ░░░░░░░░ still devastation And they ░░░░░░░░ staying in five star ░░░░░░░░ resorts FEMA was So ░░░░░░░░ expect more we expect ░░░░░░░░ we expect dignity and ░░░░░░░░ in the United States ░░░░░░░░ America That is not ░░░░░░░░ much to ask I ░░░░░░░░ there has been a ░░░░░░░░ in California but there ░░░░░░░░ have to be something ░░░░░░░░ to hold Gavin Newsom ░░░░░░░░ a trial a public ░░░░░░░░ because if this isn ░░░░░░░░ enough to step down ░░░░░░░░
